Last time I was admin *Nudge, nudge* most places counted posts. It was I, the evil admin, that made posts not count in Muffin and Games. Mwa-ha-ha! Well, for most people, anyway... I was too lazy to get everyone, and I shook my fist at the stupid thing only having the option based on groups rather than forums. Other than that, I know it can be done, and I've seen forums that don't lower post counts (and, some cases, topic counts in forums and such) when they get pruned. I bet it'd be better that way, since pruning with what we have now seems to cause an arduous task of having to account for user posts in the process. Perhaps if it didn't decrease the user and forum post counts, it'd work faster and more efficiently. More than enough times I've tried to prune a certain number of posts and topics, and it took forever without a guarantee that everything indicated would be pruned, if any at all. So I had to prune smaller amounts, which still took a while, but in the end was more successful in actually pruning things away.
But, yeah, I have a rough idea of my actual post count. Consider the last few prunes, since I had fallen from around 12,500. They had sent me down to about 7,500, at the lowest point. Not including the posts that I made during that time, just 7,500 to 10,000 is another 2,500 posts, making the total 15,000. I'm sure I've lost at least 10,000 posts with the rest of the prunes, throughout the years, since I remember a few of them taking me down anywhere between 1,500 and 3,000, though most were around the 1,000 mark or so.
And this from a guy who doesn't care about the post count.
