I, although am probably the best person to talk about visiting MSF, It drives me insane to see the
"Welcome our newest member: (hyperlink to *Noobiejoiner* profile)-*Noobijoiner*"

and THEY NEVER POST...Its like, signing up for a club but never showing up to the meetings, HELLO PEOPLE, If YOU ARE GOING TO JOIN, AT LEAST POST ONCE!!!!!!

its is driving me insane, and also, the people that don't have an avatar after being signed up for like 2 years.

I know what you mean. So many possibly interesting people, yet they never give us a chance to meet them.

For some people, it's just enough to browse around a forum without actually doing anything. A fewer amount will 'sign up' and get and account, then doing basically the same. Even fewer will actually say something, once or twice.

A very small group will post consistently, for any period of time, and finally, the smallest group are those who will hang around and post consistently for years and years.

You don't find many of either of those last two, anywhere, honestly. It's unfortunate, but that's just how it is usually.

HOWEVER. This isn't how it could end. For those who feel inclined, there's nothing to stop you from taking the initiative and greeting these new peoples via PM. That's the great advantage of that little link at the bottom, and if you think it'll help get people involved, to introduce themselves to others, or even to post just ONCE, I say go for it.

That's right. You can pester them better than you could before. Better, stronger, faster. :P

Anyway, one of the reasons for why some lurkers register is because there's a tendency for many places out there to make unavailable some forums of potential interest to people who are just guests. MSF doesn't do that, as far as I'm aware, but many don't know that until they register.

That, and going through the trouble of registering, if they feel like they may post something in the future (in the case that something catches their interest), bypasses the growing requirement for non-bot verification (and such) around the Net. And I can understand, because the few times that I've had to do so I either had trouble seeing what I needed to type, or what I typed wasn't accepted for some unknown reason. I'd prefer registering to experiencing that nonsense.

True, those anti-bot things do get annoying when posting as a certain character in a thread, that shouldn't have a name attached but is still decently important for the sake of the thread.

what helel and nikkou said.

honestly being active in a forum is alot more time consuming then most people are willing to spend, specially when most are just browsing around once in a blue moon, in such case posting once is pointless.

either way such is the way of the net.

that and you don't have a choice of guest posting anymore at most places due to bots and crap.

They fear our mighty awesome powers and sit in awe of us. Or, they're lurkers. They may just want to get the lay of the land before posting. Maybe they well intend to post and then someone makes a post about how people not posting and they freak out? I say let them be comfortable before posting.

I know how it was when I first came here... It was off the main sight, which I had visited just because I was looking for some interesting stories...

Transformation has always intrigued me, and around the time I found this sight I had just begun to realize that it intrigued other people as well and I wasnt a complete freak. >.>

Anyway... I almost didnt post here because for some reason I was still afraid of... oh I dont know. I was just nervous about the whole thing. But once I posted... you were all nice, as well as weird and fun. And that prompted me to open up the powerful machine that is my imagination... the rest, as they say, is history.

So I would say... be good to the newbies, and hope they post for the first time. Maybe... PM-ing them might help to let them know we wont be mean to them hehe...

I can understand how you felt with this, because there is always that initial intimidation factor with meeting new people. And for trying to find others that may share interests, or whatever.

Oh, and since we're talking about intimidation, I know everyone was really afraid of Nikkou as an admin[/end facetious-ness], but what's everyone else's impression about the other mods, as sneaky as they may be? Are they shy? Are they sharks, swimming in the depths about to eat you, what? What do you think most new peoples' impression of what the mods would be, possibly?

Well...to be absolutely honest, I can't really say all that much about the moderating team one way or the other--looking at the active 'moderators', and 'super moderators' now though, (Xia, you, Sensei Kimiko, Coruscate, Cutey Kerina, and Duck), here's what my impressions were/has been:

Xia and Helel: Generally friendly and helpful and whatnot.

Coruscate: Once or twice I remember them doing something, but I can no longer recall if it was important, though I remember them being a mod. They seemed pleasant enough at the time.

Kimiko: I think I saw her post once or twice, and vaguely knew she had a rank of some kind, but could never remember what--she just didn't leave a huge impression on me.

Kerina and Duck: I think I've seen a post here and there from them floating around--I didn't even know they were mods, though, until now...>_>

Out of curiosity, is this list accurate, as far as it being the normal mods, rather then an extension partly, of the 'inactive/retired' mods lists? Some of them haven't posted in quite a while, by the looks of it. I don't mean to deride anyone, or anything--just curious.

Beyond that, though, It looks like I may be rather oblivious--because that's about my entire range of impressions up there. Still, if it helps, I always felt that any moderating, when I did notice it, was rather pleasantly carried out...

Knight:

Coming from someone who's paranoid about what people are thinking, I can understand intimidation to some extent. However, I tend to be too stubborn and whimsical to be stopped by such things. ;/

Alissa:

That's a fair assessment, considering how far you go back. I remember when they used to post regularly, but... Eh. Of the existing mods and admins, I would only call Xia and Helel active in the community, and Xia's pushing it. I'd be there if I were still an admin, but funny how that works. ;p

Yeah, I hate being active. For every post I make, I have to make up for it by being inactive for a set period of time

As far as accuracy goes, its the most recent, and saying that is mostly a lie :P

right now the list exists as a placeholder and for technical reasons, as it were. keep watching, things will change
