I've recently come across an add that says, and I quote:

Yeah, I saw that. Would have taken the personality test anyway, but I had tried to take a test at the same site before and they wouldn't give me the results until I agreed to their privacy policy which said, in the fine print, that they could sell my email address to spammers. Needless to say I did not give them my email address.

"Ad" is right. It's short for "advertisement." Notice that there is only one D. And you get an F. ;p
