By now many have noticed the increased amount of spam lately, occurring shortly after I gave up adminhood. So... We must have a traitor in our midst! Someone who knows that Xia, Kimiko and Eirien aren't around all the time (or, at times, at all). And they waited for my hammer of flatulence to leave before they struck!

I'm innocent, of course.

I saw the most recent spammer in the Events room. In fact, I was trying to determine just what to do about it. I haven't handled one of those before, and am unsure of the protocol.

I'm not sure what the specific protocol is in this instance. I sent a message inquiring, to ensure I don't over-step my boundaries in my current role.

If you want to play it safe, there's a trash can (last that I knew of) that you can move such topics/posts to. They're obvious spam and don't need to be seen, so that's the least that can be done.

Not that a regular user like me knows anything.

(I was wondering when I'd have an opportunity to say that.)

There's a hammer with that sucker's name on it. But it has been and will be dealt with. >:O

Also, on a side note, if something like this comes up again and a mod isn't readily available to deal with the spammer (and this goes to anyone) please feel free to report posts that you believe to be spam or otherwise out of line. It makes our job much easier when it comes down to tracking down 19-some-odd posts all over the place, like today.

Took long enough. ;p I popped on AIM a few times but I didn't see you, Xia or Kimiko on each time, so... Yeah. I was tempted to bang my head on something when I remembered how available I am. XD;;

I think we have mods covered, all things considered. Xia's probably tied up with exams or something, at the moment. Kimiko can probably be reached via AIM, but I'm too lazy to do that. Eirien's in another world, as far as I'm concerned. ;/

There's a plot, I tell you! They wait until Xia is gone... And then they strike! :O

Actually Crescent, we have more mods than them. I know Adam has been wiggling his toes at the recent spammers.

Eh? I was saying that we have mods that are fairly active and around, not that we have them covered with admins. ;p That would be the day... Oh, wait, I pretty much covered all of them for a year or so.

It's just that only admins can do something about accounts.

I've done what I've could for now to at least shove the spam into a corner until Xia gets back. Anyways, please keep reporting any spam you all find until Xia does get back, as I've had an absolutely delightful time dealing with all the spam the last few days, since it seems whenever I get on, I find new stuff shoved into little corners all over the place.
