We're officially in a recession.

I'm no economist, but I'm glad that my observations are finally vindicated. At last I can avoid arguments by shoving this in someone's face. Mwa-ha-ha! Victory is mine!

Regardless, people have been saying we were in recession for months, and it doesn't really change anything. We still need to get out of recession, so just griping about the economy won't get us anywhere unless people do something about it. Like starting a marathon across the country.

What's this about griping, now? The first step to solving any problem is not just in identifying it, but to enlighten others if the scope calls for it. But it gets frustrating when you deal with idiots who think you are the idiot, and say "everything is fine," or, "but things are looking great, and getting better!" And I know I wasn't alone on this. Kuro, for example, was giving warnings at MSF before I got into it myself.

What I'd like to gripe about are idiots like McCain, who say that the "fundamentals are strong," and the people who listen/believe them (and that crap). But, alas, my conscience gets in the way more times than not. Or something like that.

As far as the economy's concerned, I don't have much hope for it recovering any time soon. So, I'm not going to gripe about it. The failing banks have and will continue to sodomize taxpayers, the American automotive industry will get a nice hand job but will ultimately continue to go limp, and special interests will continue to eat away at whatever potential wealth we should be earning. That's just how I see it. I'm not going to gripe about something that, in my opinion, seems inevitable. If we continue to rely so much on taxpayer money to solve matters outside of the actual issues, while said issues continue to cut away at the potential revenue from taxpayers, you might as well be asking for a depression.

I don't think a depression is inevitable, but I think the conditions are right if we allow things to continue this way.
