Blizzard!

And I ain't talking about a Dairy Queen confection, as much as I'd want one right now. Looking outside my office window, it's looking nasty out there. They're talking 6-10 inches by tonight, and it just started snowing an hour ago; probably more snow than we actually had all winter. They even went so far as to cancel school in preparation for it.
And I'm going to have to walk home in this mess in about an hour or so.
...Eh, why am I complaining? I'm a cold-weather person anyhow, and I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.

Dang. Yeah, I saw that on the radar. It's insane having a blizzard this late...and frankly, I've never been in blizzard conditions. XD I kinda would like to, once, though. It never snows enough for my liking around here...

Lol @ calling 6-10 inches a blizard, how cute!
Come talk to me when you start getting 40+ centimeters in May.

Trust me. Experience a blizzard once, and you'll never want to have another one again. Those who live in the northern parts of the country, though, don't have much of a choice as to whether they get them or not.
And they are blizzard conditions, no matter how much snow we actually get.

Man, it's been a while since we've had any significant snowfall at this time of year, where I am....

What's the sustained wind speed then?

30-40 mph with gusts up to 50+, I think. It may vary from some places, but, I just picked a random county in Kansas and that's what it said the wind speeds were going to be.

hmm got some decent snowfall this year, had like 18 inches on like the 1st of march... then it was like 70 the following weekend... weird stuff.
not so fun though when you have a job... haven't seen a truly major one for my area since i was a kid when it dumped like 3 feet, though when i was at college in binghamton i could sled accross the campus at times and you didn't see the ground until like april or may..

No fair. I haven't been in a blizzard since '93. We had five feet of snow and the drift was up to the second floor of the house. Muuuu~

As I indicated not too long ago elsewhere, I'm originally from Michigan; I'm supposed to be used to weather like this, albeit not so windy and snowy like it was today.
And, on a side note, I heard that the weather up in Detroit was in the mid-fifties. Grrr...

Sorry 'bout the DP, but I have a few things to add.
Official amount of snow we had by the time it was over was around 28 inches total; the drifts weren't as high as the ones mentioned a few posts back, but they were still at least as tall as I was. It took about a day and a half of off-and-on shoveling to clear out our driveway (and even then, we had unexpected help in that regard). The streets are still being worked on, but a lot of the sidewalks here in town still aren't cleared.
I have some pictures of the aftermath, but I wasn't able to upload those. It'll have to wait until Windows starts cooperating with me.
