27 years ago, in 1987, Oprah went to Williamson, West Virginia to report on an incident in which the mayor of the town closed a public swimming pool when a man with AIDS named Mike Sisko decided to go for a swim. The townspeople at that time were very angry and spoke out at a town hall forum, hosted by Oprah Winfery. Today, she revisted the town, and invited several people who spoke at the forum, including Mike's sisters (one of them is a lesbian). Mike died in 1994, and was buried next to his mother.
Seems like there was a lot of fear and mob mentality among the locals.
