An odd realization while looking at Christmas cards...

while at my mom's house today I was looking at some Christmas cards on her counter while I was waiting for her to finish something up... and one kind of gave me a little shock... There were three girls of different ages on the front in a nice family portrait sort of deal. I thought they looked familiar but wasn't sure... then I saw at the bottom of the card there was my mother's little sister's last name... I realized that the girls were my cousings, Tori, Maddie, and Sophie... I was shocked... even though I saw them around two years ago last I always have had this picture in my head of them being about seven, five, and three... heck I remember three three or is it four already? years ago we visisted them down in Pheonix... and they were still pretty little, in an ultra girlish room and totally spoiled rotten with all sorts of Disney crud...

but on the card was one beautiful and clearly teenage girl, one tween, and one preteen missing a tooth!!! OMG! the oldest is already fourteen?! Where on Earth have I been... when did those little itty-bitty girls grow up?! Wait... what!? I'm already nearing twenty and am a second-year college student?! My little sister is driving?! AAAEEIIIIII!!!

O_O ack! that and the other day my mom said I sounded like a home maker while I was complaining that every day is so mundane just doing dishes, garbage, cleaning, getting the mail, balancing my checkbook...

Aw, you poor baby, I know how you feel, being twenty myself. It's like 'where has my life gone!'

Then I look at my big case of Anime + Video games, remember the stuff I did with my friends, and I go 'oh yeah...having fun!'

I try not to think too far back. XD But I certainly know how it feels to notice time pass you by. I feel ancient, but not in the sense of how old I am now. It just seems like my perceptions transcend time or something.

But, yeah, your twenties're a good age as any to start wondering about your position in life, in comparison to people you know, standards, or not.

I know the feeling, I can hardly believe I have two years of college left and turn 23 this year. I feel like I am 14 or 15 still but I am not ^^;

I feel older every year when I see a new group of Boy Scouts join my Troop- especially since I'm a Scoutmaster now, not even a Youth. x_x;

Heck, it's gotten to the point where adults in the council are now looking at me for experience about Scouting, when I clearly remember most of these same people, a few years ago, teaching me everything they knew. XD

I dunno, older people looking to me for advice just makes me feel so much older even if I'm still quite young.

Oh, and my brother's a Junior... huh? x_X;; He's an upper-classman now, yeesh!

I don't know if it is me who is crazy or if things are just different here, but i don't feel all grown-up now. In many ways i feel less grown-up than i used to as i have finally started relaxing and not spend all my time worrying...the past is rather painful for me and not because it reminds me of how much more fun i used to have, more because it was a really horrible time for me. Sure i have duties, but not too many and only having 7 hours of class a week gives me much spare time. Besides i can get plenty of financial and practical support from my parents, so i don't really need to be grown-up and i am quite thankful for that as i haven't really had a period where i could just have fun.

yeah life passes to quickly... helll i'm a uncle of 3 already..... though i haven't met 2 of them yet....

>.>;.... ackward doesn't quite give the total meaning of the feeling you get when you realize your getting old...

i mean honestly standard 9-5 + OT job makes you realize how much life blows.

It is a funny paradox that the day seems to drag on forever, but the years fly by....

You know, I kind of hear you on this. I feel old when I got to Tae Kwon Do and have classmates who can all add their ages together and still get a number less than my age. And this isn't just the tiny peewee students, either.... Mind you, on the one hand, I do feel taller, which is unusual. But on the other hand, I feel older by the numbers thing, and by BEING so much bigger, and seeing these kids who horse around all before class and can still bend themselves double like living Gumby dolls and never stop moving, whereas I carefully stretch outand warm up and can't bend so well (I'm flexible, but not nearly to their level) and have to keep catching my breath.... Not to mention being the only female there who has to worry about having significant boobage. :? I guess I'm just saying that I see where you're coming from, with this.

I beleive I have two mental disorders. The first obviously being gender dysphoria, but the second is this unusual block in my head that wont let me recognise time. I'm constantly asking what day it is, what month it is, and what year it is (usually through Februrary then the year starts sticking). And when I try to look back... I don't remember much of what happened, and what is remembered doesn't usually coinside with the timeline it happened on.

Then there's the place in my head wich I'm often in. The things that happen in my fabricated land often gets shuffled into reality when I try to remember anything. I have to admit though, it does make my life seem more interesting. Maybe I should write an autobiogrificional book, I'm sure it'll be the Time's next #1 seller. Random Events of a True Fictisious Stellar Life Then at the end of the book I can note how I don't remember taking the time to write this book.

The concept of time is too widely accepted for me I suppose. Especially for how much we all rely on time to get us to and from places. It would be nice to change the clock and the calendar, just to keep everyone on their toes.

Tell me, does the big hand count hours or the little one?

It doesn't really matter to me. I'll always be late.
