They're two of the main characters in the original trilogies of the TSR-based "Dragonlance" setting; namely, the "Chronicles" and "Legends" trilogies. To my mind, those are the two best ones of that partiuluar setting, and the ones that came after just didn't work so well. (Written by other authors, which might explain my bias.) But I quite like all of these, even if their roots as a roleplaying campaign really stick out sometimes. They make a good gateway drug for fantasy readers.

But the brothers are twins; Raistlin Majere is a mage (magic user) who was the youngest who passed the mage test for a very long time, but the test taxed him greatly, and now he has rather poor health, prematurely white hair, and eyes with pupils shaped like hourglasses that see the world and its residents contantly aging at an accelerated rate. He has something of a dark side. His brother, Caramon, is a warrior, as big, bluff, and hearty as his brother is lean and quiet. The two are of course two of the main characters in "Chronicles," and "Legends" is basically all about them. I remember those books fondly, even though I haven't read them since high school.
