They're two of the main characters in the original trilogies of the TSR-based "Dragonlance" setting; namely, the "Chronicles" and "Legends" trilogies. To my mind, those are the two best ones of that partiuluar setting, and the ones that came after just didn't work so well. (Written by other authors, which might explain my bias.) But I quite like all of these, even if their roots as a roleplaying campaign really stick out sometimes. They make a good gateway drug for fantasy readers. :) But the brothers are twins; Raistlin Majere is a mage (magic user) who was the youngest who passed the mage test for a very long time, but the test taxed him greatly, and now he has rather poor health, prematurely white hair, and eyes with pupils shaped like hourglasses that see the world and its residents contantly aging at an accelerated rate. He has something of a dark side. His brother, Caramon, is a warrior, as big, bluff, and hearty as his brother is lean and quiet. The two are of course two of the main characters in "Chronicles," and "Legends" is basically all about them. I remember those books fondly, even though I haven't read them since high school.

Ah, I see. It's no wonder, since I've never formally gotten into any roleplaying stuff. Or whatever TSR is, exactly. :?

I do recall hearing about Raistlin once before, now that I have a description of him. Nothing special, though... He was just one of the characters in one of those Ranma 1/2 fanfics, where Ranma gets stuck as a girl.

TSR is a major company that produces gaming materials and novels. They're largely responsible for the whole D&D thing to begin with. Well, they're now owned by another game-related company, Wizards of the Coast, but it was still TSR when this series was written back in the 80's. And one of these characters somehow made it into an anime fanfiction? Set in the modern world? Okay, unless someone was just borrowing the name, that is EXTREMELY weird. I... think I'd skip that one....

Ah, I see.

As for the fanfic... Well, I believe it was another one of those kind where Ranma somehow ends up in another world, via someone wanting him out of the picture, an accident, or what have you. I can't remember that many details about it... It's been four years or so, I think. XD

The weirdest part, was the budding relationship between Raistlin and Ranma. Well, I don't think that Ranma was active about that as far as I can remember, but I know that the author had made Raistlin take an interest in him (well, her). I don't know if that story was ever finished, though... I doubt it. They ofttimes are left undone.

**opens and closes mouth, sort of likew a golsfish** Okay, that's even weirder.... First and foremost, having Raistlin try to start a relationship with anyone is having him act vastly out of character. He was always much to standoffish to try to start anything with anyone.... And the other world thing is just the icing on that particular cake. This is why I avoid fanfiction. :? Well, that and the typical total lack of regard for spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc.

Well, I have a fanfic coming up soon, and I'm hoping that it's one of the superb kind. XD But, that's after all of this Christmas nonsense... Makes some people have less sense than they already have, I swear. Here we are, falling into debt again, my mother overdrafting at the bank (again) to increase that debt, and they put that aside to make a feast for twenty when only eight will be here...

...

My brain hurts... :x

I'd offer to massage your brain, but that might be kind of icky for both of us, so I'll refrain. And I do hope your fiction would be better than the run of the mill stuff on the market. You communicate better in casual conversation thatn these people do with stuff they "publish" online, after all.

Eh... It may look better on the surface, but it'll still lack significantly elsewhere. I mean, besides actually expressing existing characters as canonical as possible... I think I'm pretty decent in that area. But I haven't even figured out the paragraph, even though I've read what makes one. Though I can't quite remember what I had read, exactly... <.<;

Of course, if I really need to, I can just look at examples. That's how I tend to learn things.

Examples are good. Usually change in paragraph signifies change in overall topic. Though dialogue, of course, each line is its own paragraph, rotating as speakers change. You'll do fine. I've seen your captions, after all. :)

Nikkou, I do hope that you somehow manage to either link us to your fanfic or post it here in MSF so we can all share. I'm sure we'd all enjoy reading it once you're ready to post it.

As for Raistlin... he's one of the most complex characters in the entire TSR series. He started out as a Red (neutral aligned) mage, and wound up as a Black (evil, of course) mage. In the end, he showed some signs of rehabilitation (there's still good in him, I can feel it! LOL), but overall he was the bad guy that everyone loved anyway. Well, I loved him... I'm sure SOMEONE else did too...maybe?

The coolest thing about Raistlin was, if you made yourself up to look like him for Halloween, any TSR fan recognized you right off the bat. Between the gold skin and white hair, he was pretty recognizable. The hourglass-shaped pupils are hard to come by, but they were selling them online for a while.
