As of today...

...I am now a red belt in Tae Kwon Do. I know I've alluded to the fact that I was testing today in one or two places around here, though I never formally announced it. Well, I'm announcing the result now. I passed my test, and have been on cloud nine ever since!
I'm telling you, I was practically bouncing off the walls, afterwards.... I'm much calmer now, it being several hours later, but I'm still extremely happy. The only fly in the ointment is that I now have a stiff muscle at the back of my upper leg, I assume the result a kick that went higher than expected (clear over the other person's head). But even that's not so stiff as it was a little while ago. I strongly suspect that I'm now going to be called on to assist and demonstrate and overall take on an authority position more often in class, now.... But we'll see, huh? Me, I'm just happy that I got the belt at all. Very happy indeed.

Ketchup master! :O
Congrats! Even though I have no idea where a red belt places you... Since belts tend to differ even in the same art.

Thanks to you both!
To clarify, Nikkou, red belt is actually pretty high. As one of the black belts put it to me today, that's the first step into the higher ranks. Let's put it this way- between me and black belt are the ranks of red with one and with two black stripes, respectively. Granted, there's a lot to do in those two ranks, so I won't expect to make black belt for a couple more years, yet. But I'm getting steadily closer, with this one.
Red belts are in fact commonly used as teacher aides in class to prepare them for eventually having to take charge on their own as a black belt. That's why I made the comment about expecting to be asked to do so more often. In fact, I have the additional factor of not only being a red belt, but being an adult red belt. So many of the ones we have are older kids or teens. A grown-up is given additional authority on the mat due to their age, you see.

Ah, I see... Well, more work for you, then. ;p
I'd take up a martial art, but I don't have the money. Or transportation. But, I suppose that my Nikkou belt will work just fine for me... It's gotten me past a middle school wrestler and a high school boxer, as well as someone who had taken karate for three years. XD (The last I know personally, and still know.)
Say, when you master that art ('cause I know you will ~.^), start a new art, involving... Keyboards! I'd be forever thankful. And perhaps millions of other monitor potatoes out there. @_@

Thanks on the congrats, guys! And I truly don't mind this sort of work, Nikkou. It's something I find very satisfying, after all. Dunno about Keyboard Fu, though. Sounds like something a computer programmer would create before I did....

Well, it's good to find something satisfying. A purpose in life is good. :O
And I meant a physical use for the keyboard, like a weapon. Both as a plank type of weapon, and as a flail kind (or whatever it's referred to, when you have the main damage inflictor at the end of a string/rope/wire).

Oh, that's what I meant. I just figured that someone techier than me would figure out how to do something like that sooner than I would.

Thanks.
And hey, look at it this way- how likely am I to challenge anyone here to a duel? It'd have to be long-distance!
Nope, you're all safe from harm, I assure you.

As my bodyguard.

We can talk about that once I get to black belt level, which, as I said before, won't be for a couple more years yet. I wouldn't be considered qualified before then. But I am glad you're considering it, though....

Don't worry, I'll be considered an important person worth protecting by then!
Well, maybe. I can be delusional. XD
