I'm bored...

So... I once had this book with interesting tricks, the kind you can dazzle young kids with, to make it seem like magic. Unfortunately, I gave it to one of the kiddies that used to live here... And I have a bad memory, and thus don't remember the directions inside.

The one that I'm interested in trying, is the one where you can boil water in a cup. I wasn't exactly sure how to decrease the pressure in the cup when I tried a few weeks ago, out of boredom. What I managed to find on the web didn't really help me, either...

So, does anyone know how I can accomplish this with anything you'd typically find around the house?

hmm maybe you could try alkaseltzer tablets? Lots of alkaseltzer tablets? Just sleight drop them in and watch it bubble.

No, I need the water to boil by dropping the air pressure inside. ^o^

You could do it with buthane and SAY it's water. That stuff does boil with body heat (I think it was butane; please first check if you try it). I remember doing that a long time ago back in high school science class.

I never knew about the air pressure thing, though.

Well, it must be water and air pressure. I figure that it'd be nifty to put something together that can boil water faster for food or whatever. :)
