The prion reference was from mad cow disease, also called "spongeform" something or other because your brain literally gets holes eaten into it.

I know what it's from and all that. ;p So, it really does act as a "corrosive" of sorts?

Some scientists took some brains of cannibals that had gone looney, from (New?) guinea (was that the place?), buried the brains when they were done with them, back in England, some cattle ate the grass that grew up from that place, containing prions, and viola?
