I personally find it disturbing, not for the reason that conservatives find it disturbing (they think it condones premarital sex, etc.)...

the reason I find it disturbing is that a lobbyist can push something on the government, bypass legislature, and have girls everywhere having to take some shot... kinda scary... I know that vaccines obviously have benefits... but sometimes you've got to wonder... is this really okay that we are letting drug companies stick us with a million things as we grow up, just because they paid big money to the government?

I personally think it's creepy that enough people feel it's necessary for girls as young as 11 and 12 to have this thing to push for it like this. I mean, what does that say about the young people in our country? I'm not a prude or anything like that, but there's got to be a sense of responsibility and, well, sense somewhere....

I am somewhat mixed. While I do agree that vaccination is a good idea (and I view this in the same category of things such as measles), I am concerned that a lobby group could force and end around the due process.

I also want to take a parting shot at people who presume that such a vacination will lead to promiscuity. It seems rather archaic to presume that women are unable to excersie control or self responsibilty. That seems to me like saying I don't need insurance because it promotes my going to the doctor when I am sick.

I'm a naturalist, so I don't care about vaccines. If others want to take them, fine, it's their choice. Just so long as people have a choice. And parents should have enough sense when deciding if their child(ren) should get any vaccinations for things better taken care of at a young age, when they can't decide for themselves.

I think that people with the opinion that such a vaccine will condone/promote sex are silly in the head. I'm sure that some will have half of a brain and be more sexually promiscuous because they actually feel safe enough after having the vaccine, but, overall, in my opinion, I think sex is too suppressed as it is anyway.

When God said, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it," I don't think that he had our culture in mind, much less celibacy.

There's an opt-out for parents that don't want their kids to have it, so I don't really find it scary or disturbing in the slightest. As it is, they're not forcing parents to get their children immunized. All they're doing is making parents deal with the issue, preferably with their children.

Frankly, I don't find it all that disturbing for people to get the shots.. Vaccinations are, as of right now, the best, most efficient and cheapest way we have of preventing the spread of diseases. I'd much rather spend a little in taxes for immunizations than a lot in taxes (or an increase in insurance prices) for treating these people later.

As for bypassing the legislature, the ability for governors to give executive orders is there for a reason, as a balance on the legislature. I don't mind them having it, and I don't mind them using it.
