bath oils causing breast development in boys...

I'm sorry but I can't wipe the ridiculous grin off my face after reading this... I know I shouldn't be laughing... but...

okay... when you have been popping synthetic 'mones for many many moons you begin to find these sorts of things needlessly bemusing...

lavender bath oils cause gynomastea eh, and people might be seriously worrying that their boy might grow real breasts *ugh shakes head*... you know if your boy is bathing in bath oils he's probably not exactly aiming to be a macho-man anywho... maybe the concerned parents should be listening to their kids... cause although gynomastea is common due to the wild hormonal ride of puberty... if they are at the point of tenderness (which is what you'll get at 2-4 weeks on 'mones FYI) they probably aren't getting it from the bath oils... they probably are using their parent's credit cards to order stuff from overseas pharmacies... and by taking them to a doctor (who will probably shove androgens down their throats) they probably are making them very sad in the long run... of course I don't know for sure... but I can say that no Soy products (which are totally gross), bath oils (which are totally too weak), or pubalescent hormonal fluctuations are going to go to the extent to develop tender nodules. I'd say that kid probably has been ordering with the credit card as aformentioned... or has an intersex condition (since not all are readily apparent).

I also can only laugh at the way the article explains human hormones like there are adults out there who don't know what male and female hormones are called... oh wait... evangelists who don't believe in health and sex ed. classes and therefore are unable to understand or accept anyone GLBT... duh *slaps forhead*...

okay I am rambling and a little twitchy from too much sugar or something...

Just my bemused $0.02

also FYI: things that cause breast growth...

Things that work:
Being a genetic girl
Prescription Estrogens and Progestins

Things that sorta work:
Gynomastea... but that fades and is not too substantial... if it is there might be an intersex condition present.
Being overweight... but that's not quite the same...

Things that work and don't work at the same time:
oversized implants, especially without first experiencing hormonal development...

Things that are only rumored to work:
Milk - some people think the added hormones in here have an effect but they don't.
Soy - same with milk, and recently even they discovered soy wasn't so super as it had long been rumored... so why ingest it? soy is so gross...
Bath oils - I seriously doubt this can do anything substantial
Quack claims and creams - often sold to exploit members of the TG/TS community... should never be believed.
Rubbing - I've heard this... ummm no... though it can stimulate blood flow and prevent breast cancer.
Hypnosis - while hypnosis can have therapeutic and emotional benefits... I seriously doubt there would ever be substantial physical development... if someone thinks so I am 99.9% sure it is a quack claim...
Those vacuum thingies - ewwwww. quack quack

Things that SHOULD work ;)
Fukus, ghosts, aliens, little girls with glowy hands, zappy guns, unknown pink concoctions in labs, japanese video games, genies, arcane jewelry, cursed springs, magical girls, summoning circles, and nanomachines...

I'm not sure how thoroughly you read that article. Note that it states that the condition occurred in three boys aged four, seven, and ten, plus a "similar" condition in a seventeen-month-old girl. I have my doubts that that a four-year-old would be using his parents' credit card to buy overseas pharmaceutical products.

But hey, I've never taken artifical hormones, so I'll shut my mouth before I embarrass myself.

well I was most specifically referring to the ten year old, and in general, since the make it seem as if there are more than that, plus obviously if it was just 4 people... it wouldn't make the news...

as for those that are of the younger sort, while it is probably not anything to do with hormones, I also seriously doubt the power of the bath oils' ingredients to incide gynomastea... even if they only need a little estrogen, I think anything contained within would be less than "little" and simply "negligible". Furthermore they didn't list the weights of those children... I don't know what they define as gynomastea in a 17-month-old... but I know everyone has seen baby girls and how they are most often kind of chubby almost like having little breast developments in proportion to their body. And I imagine that if they were perchance overweight they might show a little more.

Ummm...are you sure that it takes female level estrogen to get tender nodules under your nipples during puberty? If it does then it must mean that i have some kind of intersex condition, i got that. It hurt like hell when i got it touched in the wrong way, no matter what that way was.

Well I'm no doctor, I have no idea what level might cause what... the only point I'm making here is that I find it hard to believe that some bath oils are really causing gynomastea. And as said, gynomastea does occur naturally in boys often during puberty... but if there is tenderness it most likely means that the ducts and glands are starting to develop and mature. And I'm not sure a non-intersexed male has enough estrogen in puberty to stimulate the ducts 'n glands. But I could be wrong. And I of course don't know how you felt, but if you do start on Hormone Replacement Therapy you will know what I'm talking about at 2-4 weeks, and it'll persist for a month or so, really really feeling tender... as if bruised. And it will persist for a bit, like a month or so until mammogenesis completes.

May, lavender oil as well as tea-tree oil have estrogenic and anti-androgenic properties and thus can cause breast growth in prepubescent boys. It'll only stay as long as one's still using the oil, but it has been researched.

What you are describing with the hormone replacement was exactly how i felt for a period during puberty. It even went on for about that long. Sadly nothing more came from it. And how come you are able to speak so seemingly intimately about how hormone replacement works on breast tissue?

She may get such effects from taking contraceptives, either orally, from a patch or a shot, et cetera. I do believe that they contain some female hormones; it works in much the same way as how breasts of women can become tender during the time of their cycle when their hormone levels reach their highest, since it ebbs and flows (pun intended ;p) between ovulation and menstruation. I may be wrong, though. It's been a while since my brain has had to study or think about this stuff.

If the bath oils have anything in them that act as fake estrogen, or clog the receptors for male hormones on cells, it'd definitely be a matter of how much of it there is against the size of the person. The boys were pretty young, so there's no telling if they had enough that could have caused erectile problems, sterility, and all that. But, if they had too much, they probably would have had some health (physical and/or mental) problems/peculiarities along with their fake boobies.

Also, I had heard that lima beans had stuff that cells in the body would accept as estrogen (even though it's not estrogen).

And massaging the breasts is actually a good thing to do, especially if you wear underwire bras. Or so I've heard.

Seems like it completely managed to go over my head that you actually were on therapy. I knew that you had gender issues of a level where it necessitated such treatment, but not that you were actually getting it already. Sorry for the rather inconsiderate question then.
