I think I recognize it more from Eternal Darkness personally. Never bothered reading H.P. after having seen a picture of Cthulu which left me laughing.

Shame... one of the first TF stories I can remember reading was actually A Shadow Over Innsmouth... Odd and slightly creepy that may be. I have always liked transformation stories... which is one of the things that drew me here.

But Lovecraft has been parodied and kiddyfied (if that is even a word) If you go and find the original lovecraft stories... they are a horror which borders on the bizzarre. Horriffic black magic and extremely advanced alien technology (which can actually become the same thing in his stories (read Dreams in the Witch House)) figure in many of his short stories, while the Old Ones are a horror to drive the rational main characters in his stories slowly insane.

But finding his stories /are/ annoying... they appear almost nowhere in a complete work or series. I have spent years slowly adding the odd book or two which have most of the stories I want in them to my collection.

Sometimes its enough to make me want to blaspheme to Yog-Sothoth.
Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil...prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon...

I have a collection of his stories, actually.... I got it at a gaming con a couple years ago, at the Call of Cthulu booth. When I'm less tired, would you like me to check for the official name of the anthology?

Ehh unimaginable horrors I deal with everytime I go to sleep so I don't know if I would really be all that attracted to the books. Still, they are potentail source material to add to my collection of legends, myths, pop culture beliefs, and so on that I use to craft my own working mythology.

Love the new look, Guen.

Well, I strongly hinted to my sister that a complete Lovecraft anthology would make a wonderful birthday present. I know that full versions of his works are out there... but trying to build them up book at a time is an exercise in frustration.

The Colour Out of Space was my favourite that I've read of Lovecraft. I can't remember if Innsmouth was in the one compilation I have/had or not.

I think I still have moderation powers in the MSF chat room, so I can move the thread to the welcome mat for you. If it suddenly changes places, then know that's what happened. ^^;
*POOF* Problem Solved.

Yay! Everything is in its proper place in the universe once again. Thank you for correcting my mistake.

And the Colour Out of Space is one of the ones that creeped me out the most... I'll take unimaginable horrors on in a heartbeat rather than be willing to deal with what the Colour does to people. *shudders*

Yay! Another Lovecraft fan! Welcome! <hands Azathoth several fresh Mi-Go brain cases>

It's nice to finally have someone else who likes Cosmic Horror on the boards ^^

The Dunwich Horror was my first and favorite of Lovecraft's tales though I'm partial to the Shadows over Time. Surprisingly enough, there are a few people who have read some Lovecraft's work, which is ironic to say the least given the title and nature of our forums :P
Believe in the magic of reading...or I'll @#$%ing kill you!!!

Yeah... Dunwitch is a good one. (and interestingly enough it is the basis for my RP character I am going to be using on these forums, cept this time Azathoth was the proud father  )

Personal favorite will always be A Shadow Over Innsmouth... but all of the original lovecraft stories are good.
