Hello, everyone. I'm Ninian. My friends call me "Nina". I came back to MSF because I've been having a lot of creative ideas lately, and don't feel like there are many places I can share them and not have to build an audience or sounding board from scratch. I also got really fed up with the mentality of some rather hardcore or porn-centric TG sites which have a horrible tendency to marginalize and cloak people who don't equate gender and transformation with sex.

It wasn't an easy decision to come back -- I have quite a bit of history here, and a better word for it would be "notoriety". If you heard of someone named Akemi who really liked to stir the pot for no real good reason, that was me. If you heard of a loud b****y self-entitled writer who couldn't take a scrap of constructive criticism, that was me. If you heard of someone who started one of the oddest and hardest to explain MSF subcultures, that was me. While I can't promise I'll never be ground zero for drama again -- I still tend to rub some people wrong sometimes -- I can at least promise it won't be for the sort of reasons as before. If you remember having bad chemistry with me, you can be sure I won't be resuming old battles with you. If that's not reassuring, then understand that I at least know how to argue with people now without resorting to various fallacies.

But let's not talk about the past. The future is always where I'm at, and I think a number of people here don't even know me yet. I apologize for the negative intro, I just needed to clear the water first. My character/persona is basically an avatar of death (i.e. "shinigami") dressed up in gothic lolita. For me, death is the purest form of transformation, and that's a running theme with Ninian. One cannot become another thing without first ceasing to be something. Far from flinging TFs out indiscriminately, as Ninian I'm very deliberate with them -- mine are rather intense by nature. I noticced even before that my TFs, compared to a lot of people's here, has profound effect on some people mentally. I'm kind of rolling with it now, and an avatar of death is as good a way as any to convey the "danger" of being affected personally on some level. I'm not actually trying to sound like I'm bragging or anything, a good deal of the old MSF drama I'm not proud of came from my inability to turn down my mojo (or even acknowledge its existence in the first place).

Ninian is rather gentle-natured though. Softspoken, tries to smile and listen to people rather than speak out of turn. She has some traits in common with vampires or other undead in that she's in her happy place when she's in her bookshelf-lined crypt, and is capable of abstractly/magically siphoning lifeforce from people to various ends. Really likes dressing up other people, so watch your head or you might find yourself with some extra frills and lace you weren't planning on. Or the odd ribbon, of course. She -- and I, really -- has the desire to help people find their destiny or fulfill their dreams, whatever those might be, and naturally guiding and bringing peace to the dead (as well as calling upon undead aid if she needs to defend herself). She's a talent agent of sorts for a hidden world called Aeaea that I'll write about and explain sometime. Aeaea isn't as likely to come up in casual roleplay or interacting, but I'll drop the hint I got quite inspired by Touhou -- a universe that did the "somewhat dangerous all-girl world" concept the justice I never did.

I hope to work well together with you all.

Welcome back, Ninian! I wasn't around the last time you were here, but from what I've seen so far you come across as a very sensible and level-headed person. Most of the currently active community is relatively new, so you shouldn't have much problem getting the fresh start you desire. Hopefully we'll get a chance to RP together, although I tend to stick to the RP and Freeform sections these days, and I'm personally more interested in dealing with various age regression stories for my characters rather than swapping gender. What you've told us so far sounds prety interesting, and I'm really eager to see more from you.

One reason I got into a good deal of drama is because by nature I'm a bit of a visionary; I tend to see things how I want them to be and don't give much of an inch. I say that because one of my "visions" for the community right now is to indeed make it a nice place for softcore anime-theme TFs in general. Why? Because it'd be nice to see some more characters or avatars who were born and raised female, it'd provide more opportunities for meaningful gender interaction. Right now having a natural female persona means either you don't get to be TFed, or your TF is female to male. Nothing against FtM, but that's not exactly an attractive option for a woman who is comfortable in her gender.

I mean no disrespect, but I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with AR. Much like how TG itself can, I feel AR reinforces a lot of stereotypes regarding children or youth, particularly if mental changes are being invoked. However, it IS an effective form of a domination-style story, which is more my forté -- see the story "Sugarplum" by Filthy Mind on Fictionmania as an example.

Well, it is nice to meet an old face, regardless of your past history here. I doubt that many of us around here nowadays even know of some of the stuff that you have said. I also look forward to RPing with you, although I mainly stick to the Muffin Room lately, except for some of those in the Regular RP and FFRP rooms that I joined a few months ago at the latest (darn my inability to think up new characters for RPs lately. >.<).

You seem so tense, you should get someone to TG one of the abundant busty female pieces of flotsam hanging around muffinville into a loyal bishi personal masseusr to help relieve that.

In any event like others have said the action 'round these parts is all in the muffin room, ffrp and rp boards, though you won't be seeing any of me there because I'm too shy.

Also, I saw the headphones in the avatar and have to ask: What sort of music does death listen to? You know, so I can run away if I hear it ^^

So you mean you wanna see more FtF TFs, basically? We could use more MtM too.

Anyway, welcome back.

I'll be quite blunt -- telling me I "should" like something you like is not fair to me, so please don't do it. Randomness = funny is basically stoner level humor, though it's harmless it stays in its place. If you want to know what relaxes me, it's definitely not the kind of sensory-overload-for-the-sake-of-it one finds in the Muffin Room.

I appreciate that you want me to be comfortable, but largely my tastes trend away from the silly or flippant. It doesn't mean I'm tense, it just means I'm different from you personality-wise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxt_0FwDwcA&hd=1 I think this a good guess on my part.

More variety in general doesn't hurt anyone. I'm not out to force variety as some sort of crazy agenda or anything, just saying that anime-style and PG-13 content enforcement has a lot of untapped potential, if just because of the wide comfort zone I noticed it gives people.

And thank you.

I totally agree. The more variety, the better. It's been a little stagnant-y around here... we need new ideas.

The stagnancy is actually understandable somewhat, from something I'm beginning to glean. Basically, there is a push-pull effect between purity and variety, with tradeoffs for siding on each. That MSF has content enforcement brings it more on the side of purity -- we don't allow sexual content, which shuts out a huge spectrum. As a tradeoff, though, it's worth it because we get people who are "liberated" from having to wade through written porn or having to associate with shameless individuals.

But on the other hand, I think people who want to do something different wind up having to face an uphill battle due to the established culture of MSF. For many, the battle isn't worth it and they just go somewhere else. That's an undesirable effect. And what of someone like you, who doesn't really have many other places to go? (no offense)

That said, it looks like the community matured a great deal since I was gone, and people have a grasp of controlled RPs where certain TFs are only explored in their proper time and place. That's a massive improvement, and I'd like to voice my support in that regard. No one gets a TF they don't want that way, nor do they have to endure that which they're averse to. For example, I'm still not crazy about FtM, even if I have nothing against it personally. That allows for a great deal more variety, I feel, since people aren't stepping on each other's toes.

Oh, it wasn't "infamy?" :P

Well, we're well-acquainted, I think, but one can not ignore "official" venues of such nature. As long as it gives me an excuse to yap my trap, I suppose. You're one of the very few people who "get me" to some extent, so I'm inclined to make a nuisance of myself.

I'd be interested if, one day, this song heralded your arrival.

Oh, if you're looking for some help or inspiration with gothic lolita fashion, you should nab yourself a Gwen. She's bound to introduce herself to you in this topic, eventually.

Wait... I'm forgetting something. Hrm... Oh! I welcome you to this fine establishment! Everything is fine, here. And, soon, you will be fine, too!

...

Well, more fine! Somehow! :O

Good luck! All of my efforts have met with failure!

Though that may just be me. Thar be a scary person, here! Booga, booga, booga!

That remix of Tewi Inaba's song? Actually, my avatar does actually have rabbit ears I cut off in resizing because that style doesn't suit me.

The music video actually is one of my favorites among the Touhou community.

Well, I'm not too bad off. MSF got over the "NO FtM! BLARGLEBLARGLEYUCK" thing a long time ago. People here seem to be pretty accepting of all kinds of TFs now. Not necessarily as in they will accept the TF being done to them, but as in, "You like it and that's fine. Go right on ahead and enjoy it." People are much more aware now of the importance of being considerate to others when it comes to TFs. I think there's a lot more communication.

So MSF has made a lot of improvements, but the amount of creative stuff being generated has slowed down. A lot of oldies left, but it seems like many of us are returning lately. I wonder why. Did someone shine the MSF Signal in the sky?

In my case, I got fed up with various TF communities and I began having some of my creative ideas come back strong. I couldn't think of where I could share them and have them immediately have an audience, so eventually my desire to have said audience outweighed my fear of being booed and jeered at if I came back. I was afraid people wouldn't believe me if I tried to tell them I matured.

MSF has stuck around this long because, well, what other sites are like it exactly? Anime/manga is a niche, TF is a niche, TG is a niche of TF, and apparently not wanting to have to sort through porn and pervs is a niche.

Thank god someone else here thinks that, there's all sorts of issues that come with changing from one form to another and I don't think "When to have sex?" is one of them to be honest.

Hello anyway :O
