Are you afraid...

Postby Haylie » Sun Sep 16, 2007 12:43 pm

... of stuff? Any kind of stuff. You don't even have to say what. Just vote yes or no, and whether you say what it is or not is up to you. Of course, the best way to overcome a fear is to face it.
You might try this: There's an old Japanese legend that says if you write what you're afraid of on your hand and make like you're eating it, it'll be easier to overcome. I haven't tried it myself, but still.

Personally, I have a fear of deep waters. I don't know what's down there, but I know the majority is out to get me, and I can't swim, so... yeah. I guess it's a good thing I live in a landlocked state.

Now that I've said my uber-embarrassing fear, get to voting.

I'm very much afraid of heights.

Even worse, I have what the author of Catch-22, Joseph Heller, referred to as "a morbid fear of death".

That's fine, that was my fear for awhile.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I don't want ANY descrimination against people for being scared of something you find rediculous. I will personally destroy you slowly.
Thank you!

Me either! Somehow I feel rather secure when flying, perhaps because you're so unexposed to that element of it.

I don't fly, and haven't flown in a long time (since before I was born) so I can't really relate.

Heights and spiders. Allergy to the first, straight out fear for the second.

I USED to have a fear of heights, I think, but two horrifying rides on the Hulk roller coaster at Universal Orlando fixed that. Since then, I'm been riding stuff like Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point for breakfast.

Granted, I can generally get very nervous when I'm about to do something totally new, once I've done it, I usually get over any fears I may have had.

Otherwise, I can't think of any outstanding fears since I've eaten breakfasts on cliffs, scuba dived about 100 feet or so underwater, and so forth.

I'm not afraid of death, it's just that she and I...went through one of those phases with each other. >_>
If I had a real fear, it would be...indecisiveness. Definitely. If I can't act when I need to, I'm a failure >_> And failing in one step closer to genocide *_*

I have no fears in regard to risks to my life, health and circumstances. I may be afraid to do or say things to or around other people, but I don't think that it qualifies as a fear since I ofttimes do and say things anyway. I only feel anxiety in my dreams, and that's very rare but also ignorable (meaning that the feeling isn't mine and that there's nothing to fear about it).

I figure that it's more due to apathy than courage.

The biggest fear of mine is to disappoint people and lose communication to explain to them. (like with my recent electrical overload)

I would say I have 3 great fears in this life.

The first is generally falling. Heights are no problem as long as I feel secure. Tall buildings no problem. Roller coaster no way.

I guess next I don't fear dying so much as dying alone. I believe a true measure of one's worth is the imapct they have had on the lives around them. I don't want mourners per say when I am gone, but I would like people to remeber me and fondly. They don't really even need to know my name, only that thier life is somehow better because of something I did.

The last fear is probably the most omnipresent. It's one person. I won't say who, but those who know me, can probably figure it out (preferably not publicly).

Well, phobia-wise, definitely heights. In my experience, it seems I can handle most of them reasonably well as long as I'm not near the edge, otherwise I start feeling weird. If I can see down, that is very bad for Musa. XD; And related to it, I fear being pushed over a railing or something, or something breaking from under me.

Fear of death.. I try not to think about it, otherwise it can give me a panic attack. Hm, fear of embarrassment, rejection, failing, hurting people, that sort of thing.

Sometimes it's hard for me to tell what's from OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and what isn't.

Odd fear I had as a kid... I was afraid of choking. I think this lasted for about a year or so. I barely ate anything. Mostly lived off of broth, creamcheese sandwiches, baby food and Slim Fast shakes. It all started when I thought I had choked on a piece of lollipop, and then I just couldn't get the fear out of my head, so my hunch is it was something OCD-related. Plus it was a veryvery stressful time with a lot of family problems, and I was quite young.

I try not to fear anything, but to respect the dangers and death, and that works in many situations, but there still is a great spectrum of uncomfortableness and nervouseness in special situations, mostly concearning what is called `human beings´
