Have to agree with the general consensus. Samus is a much tougher and stronger fighter. Also agree with Raijin in particular, glad to see I am not the only one that thinks he is just an overrated green storm trooper.

Well, functionally, Samus and Master Chief are from two different genres...

Master Chief is from the genre of Doom, where the whole point is that you're playing a relatively normal soldier, and trying to stop people who are much stronger, fighting against hordes of minions. See also Call of Duty. It's just the best of that system.

Samus Aran is comparable to Megaman, I suppose. It's a platformer, where you gain power-ups. (Jax and Daxter, Spyro, and Crash are also in this vein.) Though...Metroid really is almost a genre to itself...Or, rather, the definitive work. When it moved to first-person, it still kept all the Metroid stuff, with just a change to 3D. (And it rocks.)

In a Face-Off.. I think she would win because she has the awexsomist weapon set ever.. but seriously.. if M.C. lived until samus was a fighter, he could beat her... Since they aren't really in the same time or world..

Master Chief has been designed as a fighting and killing machine. Cyborg upgrades, muscle grafts, the Mjolnir suit...Samus, for all her skills, can't stand up to that.

I heard something about Denzel Washington being involved with Halo3, apparently as the voice of MC.
If this is true, then...MC will be truly great.

Master Chief already HAS a voice, which would be hard to change. Now, the movie...that could be.

Also, Samus is also unique. Her entire colony was wiped out at a young age, and she trained with the Chozo. They even injected her with their blood, granting her some unique 'hybrid' powers. She retains some of these, including her amazing acrobatic abilties, even outside of the suit. One of these abilities is the 'power bomb trick'. She's trained in multiple weapons, including the bo staff.

Her suit is one of a kind, and can only be used by her. It's specially designed, mythical, and upgradable. Missiles, Super Missiles, Ice Beam, Wave Beam, Charge Shot, Screw Attack, Hi-Jump.

After Metroid Fusion, her suit is permenantly fused to her body, though retractable, and becomes bio-organic. She also gained some abilities from Metroids, including the ability to 'eat' bio-energy, and the X-parasite. She also absorbs abilities INTO HER BODY! (And is now immune to the ice beam, the one weakness of Metroids.)

As for her accomplishments...she's destroyed entire FLEETS, with no back-up, along with committing practical genocide on the Metroid race, along with destroying a few planets.

And if Samus did start to get at a disadvantage during the fight (Hah, not likely), she could easily go into Morph Ball mode, and runs circles around the Chief, dropping power bombs the whole time.

I, for one, don't even know who Master Chief IS. Can't exactly vote until I know something of both people facing off!

Master Chief (officially SPARTAN-117, or Master Chief Petty Officer) is a SPARTAN Supersoldier employed in the United States Space Navy UNSC in the year 2256 (or thereabouts). He has green full-body armor (codenamed MJOLNIR), personal shields, and can work ANY weapon you can dream up.
He. Is. Un. Stop. Able. He can kill Samus in his sleep.

Plus, can Samus dual-wield? Can she grab her enemies' weapons and use them against them? Is she NEARLY as intimidating? I think NOT.

Who has to curl up into a little ball to escape enemies? Chief just shoots 'em to death.
Who DEFINED the 1st-person shooter genre? Quick hint: NOT SAMUS.

Give Chief an SMG and he will lay waste to anything in his way.

Technically, Halo and Halo 2 didn't define anything. It's an above average game AT BEST, and pales in comparison to other games on the same platform.
