What's scary is when they are fangirling YOU...A friend of mine had a novel with Yaoi Fanfic. (Including a self-insert character who died early on being the submissive.)

Spanish fangirls aren't that anoying, although they do karaoke even if their voice is terrible (did I hear Yumi?)... and fanboys... wut? Do they exist?

Never met either, there aren't a whole lot of any of those kinds here...well i have probably met a few fanboys without realizing it, but other than that none. So i haven't really gotten a basis for comparission. However based on the descriptions i have read then original otaku are scary in their deep social dysfunctionality and obsession. Especially since as far as i have been able to understand from non-entertainment sources then those in the entertainment sources are not parodies but the way the worst of them actually are. Still it is a fairly uneducated opinion.

I dunno if I've ever met any fanboys offhand--I was at the local anime convention though, and the fangirl screams may have permenatly damaged my hearing...XP
