The logical choice is that it's not going to end.
Look at it logically here, it's an art form, much as mosaics in ancient Greece is an art form. While mosaics aren't used as often now, due to different technology and now art styles, but mosaics are still around, and some are still made.
When you look at an artform, you can never truly destroy it. It can become not as popular, sure, but it will not be destroyed. Do I think the surge of populairty will slow, yeah, but it won't go away.
That's the logical answer.
