I don't have the people skills, the confidence, or anything.

I'm a lefty 100%, when I was in first grade the teachers there tried to force me to write with my right hand but my mother came to the school and gave them enough hell to stop bothering me.

It happened with my hand writing too, I used to have very neat, clear printing until they forced me to learn cursive, which I can still barely read and can't write without slowing down to third grade speed.

My handwriting's a mess too, come to that. Though in my case it's because of poor handwriting instruction. When cursive was being learned, the teacher in charge of this was quite vocal about how much she disliked left-handed students, because we were "too much trouble." So she pretended I was just like everyone else and didn't give me the differentiations in training that I needed, and thus, my writing is atrocious to this day. It's chicken scratch, I'm serious.

Don't feel bad. Most of the teachers here at the college are right handed and have super messy handwriteing. My poor notes...

Oh, my notes were always dreadful. I knew better than to loan them to anyone who missed class, given that I was the only person capable of understanding them. Naturally bad handwriting got even sloppier due to taking down notes as fast as possible, combined with my personal tendency to use odd abbreviations, leave out words, etc., made it so that reading my notes was something akin to decoding a cipher. Heck, sometimes I had to work to read what it was I had written, if the words got bunched together small or whatever. So yeah, I think bad handwriting almost comes with academia....

Oh wow, that reminds me of how much I used to suck at spelling.....to the max! I would write my notes so fast that I didn't have time to even sound out the letters. When I got done, it just looked like bunch of letters. No kidding. I got better thanks to a speller I have and many hours practicing on web forums. ((See there is some good in web forums.)) I'm ok in the handwriting department as a righty. ^^;

See, I've always been a meticulous speller. Even in grade school, I tended to ace spelling tests. It's just that... no one ever knows what I'm writing due to the handwriting itself looking so bad.... **sweatdrop** You guys here are lucky you don't have to try to decipher it. But my printing sounds like the way you used to write. I don't space things out properly, and all the letters run together in an almost stream of consciousness mishmash that's hard to separate out into distinct individual words. That's why I prefer to use cursive, even though it's hard to translate. At least it's obvious which word starts and ends where, because they're joined-up.

word of the wise [not sure if anyone cares, but meh]

if your handwriting is terrible, there's a couple ways to fix it.

1) go back to the basics, and actually trace the letters [i'm not kidding, my friend did this and his handwriting is wonderful]

2) take a calligraphy class or two [i did this, go me]

Yes, practice does the master.

<__< but what happens when you don't have enough will to change the way you write...

Besides, my notes are always together with drawings arround them...

so... ¯\(°_o)/¯

Though I know I'm a natural right handed person, I just realized that for a significant amount of the time when I'm using this laptop, that I usually use my left hand for using the touch pad (since I dislike the mouse for it, even if wireless) while the right is usually just used for scrolling on pages (since it's on the right side at the moment).

I also notice the computer had settings to switch the normal "left" and "right" buttons for the touch pad for left or right people. Kinda nice for lefties, I guess.

Well y'see the thing with us lefties is that right handed people are left brained, the left brain handles symbols, of which letters are. The right brain handles abstract thought, which is why a lot of left handed people often end up being artists and other things in which symbols are actually a hinderance. I can write clearly *if I slow down* but I can't write clear if I go normal person writing pace.

I think the left side of my brain handles the abstract thought. ^_^;
