I love stories about good people who become corrupted.

Great Responsibility, because power allows you to fulfill your desires. You have to have the strength of will to NOT fulfill those desires that should not be fulfilled...
Like for that hot blonde who is not your wife.
Generally, the more someone wants power, the less likely they are to deserve it...

Lies, 1000000000000000 watts * 0seconds = free.
I voted for the doughnuts, sort of a nice perk of power, getting the little things for free or whatever.

Corruption is the only possible result of great power. The only time this isn't the case is in regards to beings that already start out with great powers. Kind of hard to become corrupted by what you have been able to do since birth as it would be like a human being corrupted because they can speak and animals can't.

But does power actually corrupt or does it merely reveal the corruption that was already in the person...?

"Power Corrupts. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely."
The more power you have the faster and more corrupted you're likely to become.
First you begin with the little things. "Oh, I'm X. I don't need to cross the street with the light." Then it esclates. "Oh, well, I don't do that, why should I obey red lights?" Then it escalates some more. "Oh, well, none of those laws really apply to me. No reason I can't take whatever I want."
The people with power that don't abuse it, I believe you'll see, are those you never wanted it and have seen first hand how dangerous it is.

I'm an example of how that doesn't always apply.

The exceptions prove the rule
Besides, you're soooo cute! How could you be evil at all!
