Pirates or Ninja?

Just take a side. It can be in terms of your favorite, who would win in a fight, who's more historically relevant, whatever.

I vote ninjas, but in reality robot ninja pirates are the best.

Ninja-ing and pirating are two distinct and mostly incompatible professions.
Thus, that idea is silly. Totally unlike the base question.

I would think it would be possible to do both. I mean who says a ninja can't rob at sea?

Ninja Pirates. "We are the shadow that lurks in the night and says Arrrrrr!"

Awwww... No nudist? ;p

Pirate. Simply because my mind's always out to sea.

You never HAD a mind, Nikkou.
Ninja, if only because of the Peregrine Falcon clan.
[/reference; Let's see who gets it :3]

The only group I know of called Peregrine Falcon is the squad from Metal Slug. And frankly, you couldn't have referenced to anything cooler than that.

It seems like the Ninja are winning! Can a sudden rush of pirate fans hope to suddenly turn this around?!
......
...No?

So I guess you guys didn't think much of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 either, huh?

Of course not. I will be the only pirate! The last of the Highseas! I will become... A God! :O *Keeps an eye out for other pirates so I can lop off their head and nab their power*

Of course, we're still talking about Disney pirates here. That aside, if someone wanted to be either, they'd have to see if the lifestyle agrees with them. They're classified as ninja and pirates because they are defined by certain aspects by which they routinely adhere to. Whether or not those aspects are stereotypical or realistic. I chose a pirate because, to my mind, they have more freedom and adventure.

Pirates are immortals?

Very good.
And I choose Ninja because, not just in my mind but in real life, they never have to worry about dying of thirst or starvation in the middle of hundreds of miles of ocean. I prefer all the threats to my life to be pointy and quick, thank you.

Sharks have pointy teeth and move fast in the water. ;p Also, pirates can travel along a coast, or stay near to one, to avoid dying of starvation and/or thirst. Other than that, people on land can just as easily die from starvation and thirst; I believe that people on land, on average, are still claimed more often by starvation and thirst than those on the water. You know, kind of like how planes, on average, kill less people than cars when it comes to crashes.

Yeah, but you are more likely to walk away from a car crash than a plane crash. I always though that comparison was lopsided since the mortality rate of individual car crashes to individual plane crashes is with the planes having more deaths per crash if I recall correctly. Meh, I chose ninjas since they get the snazzy outfits and weapons and aren't stuck on a ship with a bunch of men for months at a time.

Not in Japan, they weren't.
The Japanese had a very low starvation rate for a pre-industrial civilization.
And if you were a Ninja, then food and water was never an issue. People took very good care of their assassins.
Hey, I'm not saying you should switch your vote, I'm just saying that pirates had too many mundane threats to their lives for my taste.
