Have I gone Japanese?

Basically this is just so I can check and see how many can see Japanese, either because the forums allow it or because your operating system does. (And if you don't see Japanese, then you really should get that Asian/Eastern language package or whatever. I mean, what kind of person with interests in anime, manga and video games doesn't? ;p)

That and I wanted an excuse to make a poll. :P

Gwen:

Nikkou no hanshabutsu. Which means "reflector of sunlight."

It's just my fancy way of saying "moon." ;p

Helel:

Why can't you type it out? I figure you should be able to, unless you see it due to the messageboard and not a language package.

You don't need a Japanese keyboard. XD I can type Japanese without one. You just need to be familiar with katakana and/or hiragana, and ultimately romaji, is all.

You fool! Learn, learn, learn! Even a dunce like myself was able to do it, so it should be a piece of cake for you.

Hardly.

While I do have 'smartness' and relative ease with learning in certain areas, but language is not one of them. At all. I don't have the patience, or the real drive to bother with learning new languages at this point.

And that's why I'm in Engineering. :P

What, you don't think it's the same for me? I barely know much of anything after ten years or so, because I can never follow through with it, end up forgetting this or that, eventually get back around to relearning it, then start the cycle over again. I figure that it wouldn't be hard for me to learn Japanese, if I could focus on anything long enough. All I really need to do is get the sentence structure down and expand my vocabulary.

Besides, you know some Latin, at the very least. Nothing stopped you there. ;p

I retain a lot of what I learn- especially if I find a use for what I've learned, which with my interests and fields of study, means I've gotten to retain a lot.

The same can't be said about Latin and Greek, unfortunately. Sorta. I mean, I know the grammar and sentence structure of both (or lack thereof since they rely on the endings of the declensions and conjugations to determine everything), but vocabulary? Eh, no. I never liked vocabulary for Latin and Greek, and hell English too.

The only difference between the two is that one I use every day, and the other two... not so much.

Ranting and such aside, I don't like messing around with the liberal arts, so instead I suffer through dealing with programming and signal processing while I spend a little time every day pouring over information about biology, chemistry, biomedicine, and other stuff which I enjoy significantly.

But not liberal arts, no matter how much people say Biomedical Engineering is like the liberal arts of Engineering. We just happen to be good at a lot of stuff (or do a good job of pretending so while really hating it a lot: Read Programming) but still have little to nothing to do with liberal arts. XD

Eh. I don't like anything. Or, rather, the few things I still have an interest in I'm finding hard to enjoy these days. But... Even though I hated language in school, it somehow grew on me afterward, in a sense. I wouldn't say that I like liberal arts, though. But language is a form of "data", a medium with which to understand and share information, and, for some reason, I found an interest in playing around with it. Wordplay wasn't something I ever planned to have an interest in, but I guess that's just how it is for someone like me.
