I believe I can honestly say I've never really died in a roleplay.

I think I can only recall of one time that my character actually got really close to dying, but survived in the end. One other time he really got beat up, and that's the next closest that I can remember.

Death is generally a pretty big thing- so when my characters die, it's often very permanent or significant in some way. Some it happens, occasionally, but I don't have a revolving cast of characters, and I'd prefer they stay alive. For now.

Every death I had wasn't a really death there was always something anchoring me. Then again the rules to death are different at Spamville. Should Lio really die as in his spark get snuffed out, that would be the end of him. That's why he's a coward and ejects his spark chamber at the first sign of trouble.

Not me. My characters always came out on top.

How refreshing :o

As for the topic at hand, I've let my characters be killed or killed a few of them myself. For something as permanent as character death (and for me, if my character dies, he/she/it is dead, period) I'm not gonna let it randomly happen. it will happen exactly as I want it to.

Eve knows about that :o

Death makes sense in RP with serious tone to it. I don't usually take part in those as i prefer light hearted stories.

So, I'm not dying often.
Also, the problem with death, is that it seriously limits the possibilities of interaction with the external world. So it's basically a Game Over in the RP.

Indeed. And it was awesome.

Huh. I seem to be quite the unfortunate one, then. XD

I've come closer to character death in tabletop roleplaying than in online ones. In those, never had an issue. But in the real-life games, it's become a near thing. At least once I've been at negative hit point and just barely scraped through. Heck, at last night's game, at one point my character was down to one hit point. Luckily for me she's the healer of the group, and thus was able to heal herself. Kept another party member from dying, too. That fight was rough....

You're lucky D: my GM likes to torment me and kill my favorite characters ;-; But the rest of the party makes it out a-okay which is usually a good thing XD

But on topic! I've lost a good deal of characters in my rp adventures! Conspiracy I say! But then again that's the entire span of my experiences, in the past few years I've only lost one or two characters :x

Ambush Cat's recent death in Muffinville's "Council People!" thread is the first time, to my memory, that I've allowed him to be hit with anything major in the 2.5 years I've been using him online. At the other end of the scale, Callista's a human and has all the weaknesses of one; she's managed a dozen and a half times or so over the same time span, by my estimate. Eeesh.

Both of them have backup systems in place that allow them to be rezzed in fairly short order, though; under no circumstances will I kill off my characters permanently.

My GMs aren't the sort to try to deliberately kill off characters, for the most part. There's always risk, but by the same token they're not typically going to deliberately seek to bump anyone off.
