If you could only become the opposite sex by becoming old as well (over fifty), would you take the opportunity?

This one's a little odd, I know. ^_^;

Anyway, I would choose to be the opposite sex. Even if I were to become old. But that's more because I don't have a life and I don't really have much of a reason to need a lot of time being around. ^_^;

I would choice not to age.

For me, its age over gender. I would rather being a kid if the choice is given to me...

I don't feel particularly inclined to change genders to begin with, so no, I wouldn't accept that offer. Truth be told, I wouldn't even be tempted.

I agree with Beyond. I cherish my youth and, even if the oppurtinity was presented to me, I wouldn't take it...unless I was turned into an elf of the oppisite gender then maybe ^_^

It wouldn't be worth it. The methods for becoming virtually female that existsare more palatable for me than losing 30+ years of my life and being set adrift in trying to find myself in a world where nobody would recognize me and having to start over at such a late age especially without a useful education. Well there is also the simply fact that i really dislike the prospect of getting much older than i already am now. I also seem to be one of the people around here who has the least apprehensions about the surgical and hormonal techniques for gender reassignment.

No. I value my progressing education and my youth way to much to lose 30 years. A 50 year old in colloge would be laughed at.

no, pretty much for the same reasons as above, losing most of your life isn't worth tg or such.

Yeah, for most it wouldn't be worth it. In my case I would rather feel like myself for a few decades less than unlike myself for the rest of my life. Though I never did think about the identification and education issues. I just assumed that would be taken care of for the purpose of finding out something about a decision. XD So I would still have enough time to adopt children and be a grandmother. It would be nice to spend my later years spoiling children and such. :3

I think that i am glad that i consider the techniques already developed sufficient for me to feel like myself, that does make questions like this easier. Though i do think that no matter how desperate your gender issues is this is an offer that would require a lot of thought before commiting yourself positively. It isn't easy establishing yourself and start a career at that age, it isn't easy to establish a complete social network at a time when people expect you to be settled down either. And on top of that there is the whole mess of adjusting to the expectations people have for the behaviour of a person that much older and the opposite sex. There is a very real risk that outside forces will cause the breakdown that gender issues didn't if you were to do something like what this question entails. It might be right for some, but it holds very real dangers.

Yeah, I know. But I don't have the money for surgery. And surgery itself has its own dangers and possible disappointments. Plus, I'm too non-effeminate to even seem like a manly girl, and having a mostly-sensationless (are an extreme lack of sensation) void you-know-where wouldn't feel natural or comfortable for me. Not to mention that Social Security would have a field day with me if I could actually afford the HRT and the SRS to make it happen, for doing it rather than affording it somehow. Unless there was an income used that contradicts stated household budget.

But you generally get the idea, right? I don't have a life to begin with, so I wouldn't be losing anything. Except age. Though it would probably only be through that loss of age that I gain anything worth living for.

I wouldn't do it, I mostly agree with Terra here, I'm quite happy with resuslts modern medicine can give and have just started saving up to eventually go to a psychiatrist and be officially labed with gender dysphoria to then continue on at a doctors office.

And after SRS it isnt too often that you loose feeling down there. Most women to have gone through it have great results and can feel sensations like (or better then) before.

And besides the means of eventually being female I have my wife and daughter that I'd never give up, though the rest of my family (except for my mom and sister >.>), and my in-laws can go jump off a cliff.

Actually as far as i know the mostly sensationless thing is quite uncommon and mostly a myth based on the poor surgical techniques from earlier times, there was even a study of orgasmic capabilities based on time since the surgery and one who had surgery in the late 1960's was still able to get enough sensation. While surgery of any kind is never fully trivial and something as major as this is less so it shouldn't be dangerous as such if done by a skilled surgeon though complications can occur. The problems with money and physical stature are much more significant in that regard and for that i can't say i would be able to help you. They would not be a problem for me which is part of the reason i consider the paths that actually exists sufficient.

Some of a human's best years are their youthful ones, and like it or not, women are judged more excessively by their age than men. A woman past 50 is well beyond her prime as well as child bearing age. Basically...
