Well, not really. I think. Whatever. ;p
Basically, I was recently thinking about Tornado alley, when I also wondered where the Bible belt was. Because from what I vaguely remembered, it had seemed like both were relatively in the same area. And when I checked, it's pretty much true. Almost all of the areas where there is a significant amount (example: the areas that get a few in a general vicinity each year; no areas that are lucky to have one in one year) of tornado activity is within what could be considered the boundaries of the Bible belt. So, I wondered if it was an act of God, or just a coincidence.
I'll withhold for now. I expect that the turnout will mostly be for coincidence. Disappoint me? ;p

Nah, God doesn't use tornadoes to reap vengence, he uses hurricanes.
Seriously, look at those three that slammed Florida. Their paths went through counties that voted Republican, while not hitting democratic voting counties nearly as hard.

Coincidence.
Its just the natural system. We just happen to have built cities in the middle of its way.
And the rise of tornados strikes are the consequence of global warming and polution thus making us responsible, its not the end of the world.

Aaron:
Well, I was focusing on a possible correlation between the Bible belt and Tornado alley. Besides, God wouldn't use one method of punishment exclusively when there are so many things to choose from. Recall that one piece of wrath that you mentioned with a bible verse that had all slew of punishments that included nakedness? Something like that. And in their own way, tornadoes are very destructive.
Beyond:
Aww... Now I'm gonna have to call you the Boring Beyond. XD *Replaces your kittens with puppies*

I don't....share...in your beliefs.
The closest thing to it was coincidence.
But...if there was a 'god,' then it wouldn't want it's creations to be fanatic about their religion.
We all know what fanatacism does.
It creates war. Destroys people. Innocents. In the name of religion! I...cannot...Cannot believe in such a thing...There are far too many people willing to risk far too much for what could be wrong.
Persecution because of beliefs...all around us...It doesn't stop....not untl they are all gone....

But those punishments were all man-delivered, because man isn't capable of hurling acts of nature. We have to use bombs :p Of course, he could get board striking people with lightning and such, so yeah, I could see hurling tornados around every once in a while to spice things up.
And I know very well how destructive tornados are. I live in tornado alley, and the buckle of the bible belt. I could see the most powerful tornado ever recorded from my front porch. Most of them just happen to hit in fields and, in general, places where they don't do much harm.
It was a joke though, not meant to be taken seriously.

Actually, there are many instances in the bible where fanaticism was promoted. I mean, look at poor Moses. He made one little mistake as his human emotion of anger blinded him. And thus he died just before reaching the promised land. If someone isn't allowed to make one mistake during their entire service to their religion (particularly someone as devout as Moses), then what else can it be called?
Kara:
Maybe. ;p
Aaron:
Yeah, I know. But it gives me more reason to add more content to a post. XD

You think that's bad? You should hear the story of Uzzah, who was struck down by God. What was his crime? He touched the Ark of the Covenant... because it was falling as they carried it in the desert.

Huh. Name sounds familiar, but I guess I must have forgotten that incident. I guess the quail could also apply, right? Killing people who only wanted a little more variety in their diet than Mana. Didn't even have any religious significance, really. But I guess you have to follow God as a fanatic (or just outright fear him and thus obey his every command) to survive. ^_^;

I don't remember him actually killing them over that, but if he did, than yeah, that definately applies.
