vs
One's a hotshot photographer, in a muchly underrated game, fighting to free the planet of Hillys from the tyrannical Alpha Sections and DomZ aliens.
The other is a cocky, badass demon lord.

My vote went to Jade. I love both characters, but Jade is a unique type of character you don't see too often.

I don't get to play many games, so I don't know Jade. Yeah, I went with what I'm familiar with. <.<

I have played both games. Jade is basically your standard reluctant heroine, though she has some serious possible twists in the endgame, which are not fully explored. She is a very well done character.
Etna is more unique, in that I can't quite give her an archetype. She has a good bit of self-centered nature, which hides quite a few unique characteristics. Plus, she's darn funny. I voted for her, though I recommend Beyond Good and Evil.

Jade. Although I must admit this is partially because I really dislike Nippon Ichi and partially because I enjoyed Beyond Good and Evil.

Well this is a tough one for me but in the end i have to go with Jade. While she is in many ways a fairly standard character that is not what matters, what matters is how that character is used and she is used quite well. Beyond Good and Evil has got great presentation and uses cinematic techniques to tell it's story, something that works very well. Still it hurts me to vote against Etna.
