If you could become a mod...

i've always been curious as to why one would become a moderator for any reason...

perhaps you, people of MSF, could tell me your reasons, if any, of becoming a mod if you were ever offered the position

Personally, i'd do it to help out the community. I love MSF, despite my low posting rate lately, and i'd love to keep this place going good for a long time

Well, I know why I did decide to. ;p I wasn't very keen on the idea, and doubted that I could be one very muchly, but I figured that I could give it a try since someone close to me thought that I could do it. (Well, it's more complicated than it sounds, but that's the gist of it.) Although, at the time, I had only known them for as many days as I can count on one hand. ^_^; Which was almost the same amount of time that I had been at MSF. O.o;

Now, where's my option, Des?

Well, I am the moderator of TFBoard. I took the job because Devil'sDonkey abandoned it, and somebody needed to do it. I thought that I might as well try, and I figured there was no harm in offering. So I was the first guy to respond, and he gave me the job. I was a lurker at the time.

I've been moderating it for years now. I'm pretty sure I'm now one of the 'old hats' in my area, and have seen Ranzab, TransForum, Angrboda, Hazard, and quite a few others come and go. I have seen Doc's Lab change hands, and TFCentral rise and fall. Still, I regret the things I've missed here. I wish I'd been able to meet Sakura.

Well, it's never a position I've actively looked for, and quite frankly, I don't expect to ever be seriously considered for one. However, were I to gain such a position, I would try to help the community wherever possible, even if only in small ways, like smoothing over arguments or whatever. Just generally try to be a helping hand and, when necessary, a voice of diplomatic reason.
