Today, I am offering you... a very special portrait. Well, at least I hope it's special. A little while ago, the lady that is currently known as Amber, and in the past has gone by Tomoyo, contacted me in regards to a request. Specifically, she wanted to know if I would be willing to do a new character image for her that essentially combined the two disparate characters, taking features from both and so forth to make a third, original character. I finished the image last night, and got Amber's permission to share it on my art thread. Here it is!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v337/ ... unning.jpg

Sadly, I didn't realize until after I was already finished (and thus it was too late) that the fingers on the "open" hand look kind of wonky and weird. But otherwise, I think she came out pretty well. Amber was happy, anyway, and ultimately that's all that matters. :)

Also in artistic news, I'm currently participating in a fashion design contest on the Anime News Network site. There are no fan votes or anything like that, but if anyone cares to see my designs, follow this link:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/contest.php?id=89

I'm towards the bottom on page six; the "Wendy" designs. I honestly don't expect to win a prize, given what I saw that preceded me. Which is a little depressing, but no more than I expected, really. But at least it gives me a chance to show a few more of my designs to you people. If anyone is interested, that is; I know my art isn't a big draw in these parts, but there might be a few who'd like them, so I keep posting anyway. Guess I'm weird that way. **shrug** Either way, hope someone likes something I just posted here.

Wow! This is the first time art got me glomped! Thanks, guys. ;) Amber, I was in fact going to offer to make you an icon of your portrait, but I see you beat me to it. I like the background you used. It really captures the "free and easy" feeling.

I don't know, really. I might have left it plain. Though ultimately, if background was called for, I would have imported it into Paint Shop Pro and just fiddled around with different combinations of colors and textures until I got one that I thought looked good. And there's no way of knowing that until I actually see one and it tickles my fancy.

Well, I entered another art contest the other day. It took a few days for them to get my entry posted, I'm afraid.... This one is taking place at a psite called Seventh Sanctum. It's loaded with all these generators and what not, so you can generate random characters or attacks or whatever. The contest this time was to take two characters from two different generators and draw them in conflict with each other. As I saw that motifs were being used, I decided to have some fun and adopt the idea of a "one-way rivalry." Here are the two generator results that I decided to use:

"This vain catguy has almond-shaped, gray eyes. He has short, straight, brown hair worn in an artistic style. His skin is tan, and he has brown fur with yellow spots on his ears and tail. He has a boyish build. His ears are perky and rounded, and his tail is long, thick and carried straight. His fashion preferences are best described as "pin-up pretty boy." Checking his appearance in a mirror is a common activity for him."

And... " This willful magical girl has droopy blue eyes and shoulder-length, curly, luxurious, lavender hair worn in an alluring style. She has a very feminine figure. She has cosmic powers that are invoked by songs. Her costume is mostly blue and yellow, looks like a fusion of a nun's habit and a scanty negligee, and it arcs and crackles with otherworldly power."

Oh, yeah, and perhaps I ought to share the drawing. Here it is:

If you want to see who I'm up against, or just see the site where this is taking place, here's the link: http://www.seventhsanctum.com/contesten ... ?Contnum=6
My entry is number five.

I really don't have real high hopes, though I suspect I could have a shot, as quite frankly, a lot of the entries for this one aren't all that good. Ah well. The thing is in the process if being judged now, so I should be hearing something shortly. If I do win a prize, I get a fun gift certificate. If not, oh well. At least I created some art that I, if no one else, find rather amusing.

I love the magical girl outfit, I wonder where I can get me one like that.

Good Job Guen, I hope you win, though second and third will be cool

Thanks! I don't have especially high hopes attached to this, but a prize would definitely be fun. :) And if you ever want to commission that outfit as a costume, I wouldn't object.... ;)

Hear ye, hear ye! Gather 'round and see... a piece of Christmas art! And not just any Christmas art. This is a special image, with a story around it. It stars not one, but two, members of this community. And one of them doesn't really know she was scheduled to be here, or in this particular outfit....
The story goes as follows. Amber was talking privately with Niege, and somehow the subject came around to me drawing Neige in a pretty poofy dress. Amber mentioned this conversation to me. So I decided to have some fun and actually try it. Because it was Amber who communicated it to me, I decide to include her as well; after all, Neige isn't likely to dress herself up in such ornate gear without some- ahem- assistance.... So here we have the lovely Neige, all kitted out in her oh so feminine (and yes, quite poofy) Christmas ballgown (even if looking somewhat chagrined about the whole deal) while cute little Santa-Amber helps her finish accessorizing. Click the below link to see the wonderful sight! :)

I do hope you all like this one, especially the subjects. Just don't come after me with that great big sword, Neige! **ducks and hides** You can change out of it after Christmas and New Year's, I promise!

*stands there....frozen with a bright red blush* aaah..I...ju......st....I...I...um....

(Wow, that looks really nice! I love the sleeves/gloves, and I'm really grateful for this, it's always really great, at least for me to see others do art, though it's embarrassing to have one do art for me; for a reason; I never liked bothering others for any reason But this is truly a great holiday gift and put a big smile on my face....and even snuck in a laugh at the situation hahahaha. I'm very grateful for you work Guen, I'll treasure it and I am even more grateful for the smile you've brought to me in these busy days)

Aww, that's really lovely, Guen, the art and the gown and the gesture of drawing it ^^

It really suits you Neige, you should wear such things more often ;)
