wow... pretty messed up, though i'm not to surprised by the general concept.

I doubt it'll go through but with the BB backing it who knows, i just see to many issues occurring if something like this resulted which is why i doubt it will. But i guess petitioning against it to stem it asap works.

Just to make a bit of an update to this, to anyone reading the thread now, the Orphan Works bill wasn't really as big a threat as most perceived- Here is a well written article-ish thing about it.

If the rest of that letter seems opinionated, there is one important, factual part to read- the part that states that this bill was never actually created; never became a bill, and was never brought before congress.

No, just a huge overreaction sparked by some individuals with good intentions but a little too much zeal and not quite enough common sense.

It isn't dead yet. So I've heard it was just passed by the Senate but hasn't been approved in the House yet.
