Tonight's Koulific Art Experiment

Isn't as much experimental as it was what my college art professor tried to teach me.

Take yourself a nice, big sheet of newsprint or some other dirt cheap paper you can afford to go through.

If all you have is 8 and a half by 11 copy paper, fine, tape it to some cardboard or something... and get it up on the easal.

If you don't have an art easel, find some way to compromise. It's okay to tape your art to the refridgerator to work, but you're better off with something to give the paper a slight angle, you want it more vertical thank horizontal though.

Now, turn your hand upside down, opposite of the way you write when you print.

When you draw like you write, your lines and weight of the material are based off of lifting the weight of your hand off your instrument.

When your hand is upside down, you are applying weight consciously.

It's a bit unconfortable at first, but try it out.

This is especially cool if you "suck" at art. Drawing big is fun right? But it's also a way to learn. So draw your tiny doodles... BIGGER! Fill up the page. Have fun!
