Manga Recommendations

Postby Coruscate » Sat Sep 25, 2004 11:52 pm

This is a catch all thread where you can post recommendations for manga to read or solicit suggestions for the same.

Of note: Since there is more than one old "recommendations" thread in here, the older ones will be deleted soon. There's no way for me to merge threads together, before anyone asks. If there was I'd just merge them and stick them just like this one is.

Negima is pretty cool so far. It's made by the same guy who did Love Hina and has similar humor.

other manga's that i suggest would be

Basilisk - this is rather new so not much is out but it's pretty much summerized as feudal japan 2 super powered ninja groups battle it out to the death for a general position in the government. The art is stunning and the battle are well drawn and unique.

blade of the immortal - this is a amazing manga, it's released in the US and is review all over the place.

Chaosic Rune - this is extremely violent version of pretty much any card related anime/manga. in hte first volume alone there's prob at least 8 graphic deaths, and few hundred random suggested deaths. But if you don't mind that it's fairly interesting though i'm still not sure what the plot is myself.

Houshin Engi - This manga is amazing, i'm seriously surprised that it hasn't been released or licensed yet. The character designs/art/story is amazing. It's based in ancient china during the Yin dynasty, and from there... well i don't want to spoil it. But if you see this manga read it. If you want added incentive one of the characters can physical disguse himself as any form and often uses a female form.

The Rising Stars of Manga.

I always buy this anthology for it's various different types of manga and the fact that it seems more pure because it's from the fans.

Sgt Frog

Insane!

Cromartie High School

Even more insane! Freddy Mercury is in it!

and finally

Van Von Hunter

Think "the Slayers" but done by us over here.
