I'm just wondering how many people manage to sleep on their back like humans are supposed to for healthy spines... I simply cannot do it... I am ultimately too alert when face-up... plus my computer is loud and bright (But I prefer it to the dark and silence)... and my head isn't covered... thus I get cold...

So I sleep on my side with the blankets over my head and just my face uncovered... I don't know why... I just get cold without it like that... -_-; .... then I usually have a pillow between my knees (both for comfort and spinal health) and my arms wrapped around my largest stuffed animal (A rottweiler named carl... based off a series of childrens' picture books) But then throughout the night I shift alot, and just getting to sleep I switch sides about a dozen times (I often have insomnia)... Usually in the mornings I'm more on my front than side, and still holding my stuffed animal or the pillow... but this is troubling as A: it is bad for the spine B: After the pleasant numbness of sleep wears off... it is quite painful...

So anyways... how on earth do people sleep the "correct" way?!?!?!?!?!

One one side, though I move a lot in the night. The strange thing is that the side varies depending on the bed, I find it a lot easier to sleep facing toward the wall, regardless of which side that is.

When i saw the title i was tempted to both say poorly and way too much. But to be honest i am not sure how i sleep, i tend to toss and turn a lot before falling asleep and i really don't remember what position i am in when i wake up.

I guess... Random? It depends on my mood, how tired I am, and some other thingies. So sometimes I sleep with or without covers/blankets depending on the temperature. And since my fake bedroom is at the center of where most of the noise in the house comes from (dish washer, dryer, washing machine, kitchen activities, phones from the kitchen and master bedroom, master bedroom TV and activities and living room/dining room TV and activities), it can be a hassle going to sleep when I want to. But sometimes I go to bed earlier than I should because I'm just too depressed and I end up staying up for a while.

So I'm pretty much in every position every now and again, though being on my front is the rarest... I usually reserve trying to do that only when I'm not feeling well (like a head or stomach ache) to see if it will do any good. Sometimes it does, but usually it doesn't. Since I like sleeping in the pitch of darkness, I often end up on either of my sides to avoid light (the wall has blinded double-windows which takes up half of the wall space, and the kitchen and master bedroom cast light in my room easily).

So it's mostly random; though, when I fall asleep, I usually wake up in a position approximate to where I had been when I dozed off. Oh, and one time as a young'n I had tried to sleep like a bird by propping my matress against the wall and leaning against it while standing on one leg... didn't work out. <.<;

When I DO sleep, it's usually sitting up, or leaning against something.
if I lay down for too long, I start hurting VERY BADLY for quite a bit.
It doesn't happen when I stand up><
So, I guess...random?

It's random for me, too. I don't stay in any one position the entire night. I rotate through all the possibilities, over and over again. I guess you could call me the rotisserie sleeper. :P My default state tends to be on my stomach, but the other areas get their share as well. Oh, yes, and I do tend to sprawl. I'm glad I don't have to share with anyone.

I sleep all randomy and have a tendency to shift around in my sleep.
The awakening of the mind gives way to a world of possibilities.
