Does it take more time/effort/inspiration to name characters than you think it should take you?

Naming video game characters...

Postby Mitera Nikkou » Sun Apr 09, 2006 9:52 am

Video game room has no poll feature. T.T

I always have problems naming them. It takes me forever. There're just so many times where the name I think of just doesn't seem right, or good enough.

Of course, I'm not talking about typical names, here. ^_^; Oh, no...

Anyway, I had got Wild Arms: Alter code: F yesterday and decided to start it up and get through the prologues. After fifteen minutes wondering what I should rename Rudy as, I came upon an idea: Slushie! And so I named him Slushie. I'll be damned if that wasn't the perfect name for him. And then it came time for Jack... I deliberated for about ten minutes or so before I decided that I would go with a theme. And another ten minutes later I dubbed him Sherbert! He may not be a knight, but he has a sword and knights have swords, and "Sherbert" sounded like a knightly name. It probably took me twenty minutes to decide what name to give Cecilia. I decided to go with the theme but nothing "feminine" came to mind. But I did eventually think of "Snowcone" and thus I named her. It was perfect. They were perfect.

And while it sounds fun for me it's about as equally frustrating. ^_^;

Yeah, I do the exact same thing. It's like its own seperate quest, a quest to find the perfect name! I'm usually really serious with my names though.

It really varies based on how I feel at the time, so I voted, "I don't really know."

I should make a book of silly names. ;p When I played FF9 I named all of the characters after some kind of meat. Like Sausage, Bologna, Jerky, Porkbun, Spam, Pastrami, Baconbit... Well, at least I'm certain about the first five. ^_^;

And I love naming the spells in Wild arms. Pressure, this water spell, I renamed to Fish tank. XD
