Anyone else interested in asexuality?

Here're some details on asexuality: for one, they still reproduce, and thus need female characteristics (at least for mammals); however, they no longer need a second player to reproduce, and thus no sex. Well, seeing as the birth canal would still be there, I would imagine that the act of sex would still be possible. Anyway, there wouldn't be periods anymore, seeing as there is no need for an open window for a chance for an outside source to get the reproduction system going (even though bleeding is actually the abnormal trait, naturally, when compared to the great majority of mammals that don't bleed). On the other hand, you'd likely give birth in cycles, though it is a possibility that the process can just be stimulated in some way by yourself when you actually want a birth to happen.

So, anyway... I want to be asexual, and I was wondering if anyone else around here would as well. I figured that a poll is a nice way to find out, even if I don't know their identity. XD

I think i'll stick to female even though it would mean that i would in some ways become sexless or at least unable to reproduce. Fortunately i have never really seen biological relation as something important in regards to children so if i were to want them then i could just adopt some, either that or have a girlfriend who could be inseminated, getting children no matter how you get them is a cooperative effort if in a commited relationship.

I think of myself as a lesbian in a man's body. That's a blessing to me--it means I can hopefully enjoy the blessings of fatherhood someday.

Don't think this is a path I'd like. I mean, if I could give up having periods that'd be great- those things are a royal pain in the neck- but it's not enough to make me want to go into this particular state. And actually, I think some other mammals do bleed. It's just not so visible. I'm going to have to research that.

Some other mammals do, I would guess, but I've only found one other mammal that does, a type of monkey or something. And, in most cases (if not all) for mammals, the lining of the uterus is absorbed instead of shed and bled out. But I wouldn't take my word for it. I'm not exactly wise in any matter.

Also, the only difference between being a female human and an asexual human, would be the absence of periods and how reproduction is initiated.

When I was a kid...

I constantly though about asexual reproduction, it was probably becouse I didn't like it when people from different sexes weren't treated equally.

I though a lot imagining an only sex, I though a lot about how trees grow, I though a lot about amoebas (I mean A LOT >_> and I still do...)

I even did art (although it was horrible), I did a lot, but I ended up destroying it becouse I didn't want my family or friends to see it.

But then I hit puberty and kinda forget about that...

And Terra, I wouldn't say reproduction should be a problem. Like you mentioned there's plenty of ways to have a baby, but I'm placing my bet that in the near future uterin and ovarian transplants will become commonplace for transexuals. Untill then, and untill I talk enough with psychiatrists to get surgical clearance (for any operation u_u damn you system!), I'll bide my time having the physical appendages I was born with.

Due to the safety testing and so on it will be too far in the future for me at least Stellar. I doubt that it will be possible to be allowed to get it after having gotten the operations available in the present. As for complaining about the system then unlike me you aren't forced to live as the bearded lady for three years at the very least. And handling all of your transition yourself and then after a year of being transitioned getting the right to see the people who are going to determine if you are insane or have a genuine need for body modification.

No matter what then biological reproduction isn't important for me. I am a strong believer of social ties being what matters in the relationship between parents and their children.

And about being the bearded lady >.> How different is the transition for you? Were you cleared to have horemones yet? If so, it shouldn't be as drastic as it sounds... But if it is I'd love to know about the steps you have to take through the process.

Other than the body needing to accept implanted organs and, in particular, making them work in a body never made for them, I'd imagine that the other problem would involve making room for the new organs (uterus, ovaries, vagina and stuff). I would expect that the male body wouldn't just happen to have extra room in there for organs it wasn't supposed to have, and may also cause some complications for organ transplants beyond the previously-mentioned. Seems easy enough, but I wonder how long it will take for science and medical techniques to progress enough until they find a combination that will make SRS to be literal.

What you first mentioned is a risk getting any transplanted organ, though things like hearts livers and kidneys are something every human body knows how to function. But I'd figure there'd be some way natural estrogen would persuade the body to let the uterus and such to function as it should (I say that very blindly though... I know nothing about what actually would be factored in in a uterin transplant with a male recipiant...).

I wouldn't think the organs in a male couldn't be repositioned slightly to make room for a uterus, unless theres some major difference between the male and female pelvic region >.> is there?
