Question about a Universe Idea I have...

Postby AnimaVex » Fri Oct 20, 2006 9:59 pm

Well, since I was about 8, I've had this story idea in my head, and it goes a little like this:

The world of Altaria is a beautiful place, filled with lush fields, forests, and all that other good stuff. However, it also has a bloody past, which is explained in the "Book of Altaria". It involves two teenagers travelling to the Floating City of Cyrea in order to become warriors, a war that spans the world, and a load of different Gods and Goddesses that seem to be plotting something.

I could aboundate, if need be. I'd just like to keep the whole story secret until I finish the whole thing. And check it.

PS: I'm making it sound too... like every other story out there, right?

I suggest you to start in the Regular Roleplaing forum before opening it as a universe. Basically a way to test the idea without jumping into the pool too soon.

I got the impression that it was a soon-to-be-authored story than a universe. ;p

It's both. I'm making a story out of my first character, Cybersphere Kelion Andromeda, who just happens to be one of the two, along with Leviathan Ishtal, I mentioned up there. He's one of the already-established characters that may appear from time to time in the universe. I'd also like to make it into a universe for the part that happens seven years after the two become cadets in the Cyrea Academy.

It's a long story, really. I mean, the war starts three years BEFORE they become cadets. And I have a notebook with a few pages filled with important battles and when they happen. And some notes for myself, and some explanations of the two sides, the main cities, the neutral cities, the teams of people, their specialties, and some other random facts. I do need to make a whole list of special weapons, though. I need s'more imagination power now...

Hmmmm... Well, in the universe, what sort of roles would people play, since I imagine that the two main characters are NPCs?

Well, either regular soldiers, probably from any rank (Some requiring authorization, of course), Cyrea cadets, which would be assigned to certain places for defense, attack, etc. There are also people that would be on either side (or neither side) but not cadets of either Cyrea or Ileandare (The second side's equivalent of Cyrea) which could fight.

All of this is just to try to tell you that any character can be a part of either side or neither side, as well as doing pretty much anything in the war: researching the actions of the Gods in relation to the war, fighting in it, fighting the Gods per se (There are special techniques that do allow you to kill a God. Cybersphere actually knows a few.), and so on. But the whole thing revolves around the war.

However, anything's possible. I'm just putting up a scenario and the place. I want to see what everyone else makes of it and how they put their pieces in accordance with the scenaro. In fact, that would most likely be what guides what'll happen: Whether if there's something else after what I'm planning, or whether something other that what I plan to guide everyone to will happen.

BTW, most Cyrea / Illeandare cadets and higher-ranked guys go in teams, which can be of any size. And I've already got a few quirky NPC groups... XD

Go for it! If you're worried about repeating ideas, look at it this way: fiction has been around so long that the vast majority of ideas have, in fact, been done already. All that matters is portrayal. And if you get other people involved, then you're bound to get some pleasing quirks, right?

Wow how many people have universe ideas in their head since they were kids?

I'd like to have more info though.

Guen: Alright. I'll just have to finish my notes on the history of the war and some other htings and then I'll send a formal application.

Hater: I know... weird, right? But, in all truth, I never really thought it would be so big. I only thought up of Cybersphere and Leviathan and Drake and Cecilia (The four main characters of the original story, which I am writing) at that time.

Oh, and... they'll be some of the ones that'll be teaching the Cyrea cadets. If you get Drake, you'll be lucky. If you get Levi, you're pretty much dead. Think of Levi and Kelion as... Kakashi, except even more vicious. Plus, you may see them train against each other from time to time... or fight.

Ooh, I almost forgot: Levi's a Demigod, making him part of the Gods and Goddesses. In other words, he's been forced to kill his best friend. Fun, no? And the battles always end up in either draws, or points to either guy. At the third, it's game over. Cy's at 1, Levi's at 2, and they have 37 ties. Any other questions that you think may be vague enough to ask, Hater?
