[Xiao]

Daniel looked at the spot and thought for a moment, "Could you face the same way you were when it happened," he said, "I would like to check something."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Um.. okay...." Elise went back to the couch. "I... was sitting here, sort of like this facing- sort of facing the rug, I think...." She tried to angle herself the way she thought she'd been sitting when watching Neko, not entirely sure just what Daniel was getting at here.

[Xiao]

Daniel walked over to the couch and placed his finger where she said she was bitten, he used his finger as a guide and began to make a straight path from where she indicated in the opposite direction of where she was, and found himself at the window again, in fact, following the path led to the roof of another building. "Hmm, now it is plausible for you to have been shot with a tranquilizer dart or other means of knocking you out. The window was open, you weren't looking, and there is a good platform to shoot from."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"A tranquilizer dart?" Her eyes followed in that direction. "Yes, I suppose it's possible. I mean, it's not like I've ever been hit by one before, so I wouldn't know what it felt like, would I? But if that's the case, then the dart itself would be around here somewhere...." She got up on her knees, peering over the top of the couch to search the floor behind it for clues.

[Xiao]

Daniel nodded and then began to think of all the possible ways it could have happened, First off, it could have been a spell, but that wouldn't have made a stinging feeling unless the caster was very poor at it, he thought, When it hit her neck, she could have reached up to swat at the assumed bug that stung her, but she would have felt that it was a dart and not some bug, I guess that leave that she almost immediately was knocked out when it hit her, causing it to make a pretty straight downward drop. He saw that Elise was searching behind the couch, so he quickly checked the area in front of it. Finding nothing he asked, "I can't find anything here, could you hop up for a second to check under the cusions?"

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Under the cushions? Sure. That was where I was going to look next, anyway." She scrambled off the couch to kneel in front of it, starting to lift up the cushions in question and poke under them in search of any clue of what might have knocked her out.

[Xiao]

As the cusions were lifted, Daniel saw a small shimmer of light near the back. He reached back and grabbed whatever had caused it, and extracted a small dart which he began to examine. "Gotcha..." he said, more to himself than anyone else.

[Mistress Guendolen]

"You found it?" Elise scooched over on her knees to take a closer look. "Wow, that thing's tiny...."

[Xiao]

"Yeah," Daniel said while inspecting it, "small enough to hit you without you taking too much notice. Now we know what caused you to black out."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Okay, that's a start. I wonder if this thing could help us find whoever did it, and then we could find Neko...." She studied the little dart thoughtfully. Hm. Never dowsed with anything quite like that before, but it might work....

[Xiao]

"I'm sorry, but I have no idea how to do that." Daniel said, handing the dart off to Elise.

[Mistress Guendolen]

"I might be able to do something. I... well, I know a few... odd things. Just me me think about this...." She took the dart, studying it as she contemplated just how to do this.

(Okay, here goes. Dowsing is a method of divination revolving around finding location of a given person, place or thing; in the old days, people would use a dowsing rod to find locations of water. But it can be used for other things, too. Typically the tool used is a small rod of wood, as mentioned, a piece of metal (usually bent into an L shape and known as a dining rod) or a pendulum of some variety. The process usually involves holding the implement over a map- the more detailed the better- as steadily as possible, and gauging success by how it moves. Like the pendulum swinging or whatever. Like Hitomi did with her crystal over the map to find Van in one of the earlier "Escaflowne" episodes, if you've seen that show. That was a form of dowsing.)
