Excavation: Completed

[Mistress Guendolen]

There was a shadow in the light of the lantern.... Brenna blinked as she munched on her snack. Was someone over there?... Curiosity began to override sleepiness; and as for hunger, well, there was no reason not to carry her snack with her to investigate....
And so she meandered over that way, until she got close enough to see that it was Holly. "Oh. 'lo, there." She plopped down on the ground next to the other girl, heedless of how cold it may be down there at this hour. "Whatcha doing out here?" She offered up some of her snack; no matter how hungry Brenna was, she wasn't going to eat it in front of someone else without at least offering to share. "Sure are pretty, aren't they? So shiny...." She leaned over the pit, peering at the contents within.

"Hi," Holly replied as she wavered a hand declining the snack offer. "They're amazing... After staring at them for a couple hours I don't want anyone to move them.. They seem so content down there," she murmered, not moving her gaze.

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Content?" Brenna leaned closer, peering at the crystals. "I... didn't think of 'em that way...." She absentmindedly chewed on an apple. "Though they sure are amazing. Thing is, with me, it makes me want to pick them up and see what they do...." She continued to stare into the pit, enchanted by the beautiful crystals.

Lily coughs loudly behind them. "Let me guess. We all got up for snacks, and just HAPPENED to wander over to the pit with the crystal, to make sure nobody else was going to investigate."

Of course, she is also the only one who has full climbing gear on, complete with rope, anchor line, and a manual on how to use them.

"I figure, if I'm going to die, you might as well go out doing something ridiculously stupid. And stuff like this doesn't happen every day. With the strangeness in the forest, I can't just leave it alone. The amount of glow is arbitrary."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"But how do we know it's ridiculously stupid? Might end up being a lot of fun." Brenna grinned in anticipation, then downed the rest of her snack. "Though those things look pretty sharp. So I'd better run and put my boots on." She looked down at herself. "Oh, yeah, and maybe some pants, I kinda forgot about those when I came out here...."

Holly stood up and shook her head, "I'm not letting either of you get any closer to the crystals. Just go back to sleep, and before you know it it'll be morning, the professor will be up, and you'll beable to hop down there."

Holly frowned not wanting to take such measures, but continued, "Or should I go wake the professor now?"

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Wait a minute. You mean you're actually trying to stand guard? That wasn't just a story to cover up why you were lurking out here? C'mon, what's gotten into you? You were certainly up for exploration just a few hours ago...." Brenna let out a little huff, forgetting about her intent to go put on boots- or even pants. "You've never been a stick in the mud before this!"

(Ooo a growing moment for Holly, and I so wanted her to stay young and adventerous. oh well, I like her this way ^_^)

"I'm sorry.. I just don't want anything bad to happen if I did let either of you go down there," Holly sighs, sits back down and looks to the crystals, "And I have this feeling... That those things will bring about something unwanted."

A man Donald's age were prone to having sleep problems, and he was among those with a sleeping problem. He couldn't sleep very deeply, so he tended to wake up from when he changed into a bad position during the night and caused him discomfort or pain. Being that he had bruised his tailbone recently, it wasn't easy to stay asleep.

Which is why he was able to hear faint voices, and see a bit of light shine through the fabric of his tent. Curious, and hoping that his charges weren't up to any mischief, he tossed on a robe, cinched it around his waist with a belt, and slipped outside after donning his boots, leaving them untied.

He saw where the light and voices were coming from, so he moved closer, moving quietly from one hiding spot to another. Unfortunately, there weren't many hiding places, so the closest that he could manage was the wagon, which left him straining to hear the conversations.

[Mistress Guendolen]

Brenna peered into the pit again. "How can a crystal bring about something unwanted? Something more than a cut if you're not careful, that is. They're weird, but I'm sure there's a reason for it if we can just have a look at them. I wasn't planning on trying to get a close look at them tomorrow, but now... the feeling I get is that I shouldn't wait. If we wait too long, we might never have this chance again."

OOC: Don't worry, if you find yourself losing the young and adventurous mantle, I'll carry it for you. Brenna may not be dumb, but she doesn't exactly have the greatest of wisdoms, either....

Lily sits down to think. "I suppose your are right about the stuff that's unwanted. The thing about them is that they have done things that are almost impossible. And, when things do one impossible thing, or several for that matter, you tend to expect other things that are impossible. Still, impossible does not necessarially mean bad. There can be good things that are impossible. I just want to follow this path through to the end, and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I want to know what these are, and what is in the darn forest, and what was that beam!"

[Mistress Guendolen]

"You and me both! That's why I want to check these out so badly. To know why they were doing what they did, and how. And look at it this way- if we saw it happen, then it's obviously possible! I don't think we were having a group hallucinate, after all. We just... need to figure out how they did that. Just think, we could be be on the brink of a major discovery here!" Brenna's face shone with the prospect.

"Tell you what, it's still late... or .... early... Well, theres still hours before sunrise, how about we go to the forest? I can't protest that since the professor never said not to go there." Holly looked up at the two, "We could make it back before sunrise if we keep track of time."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Forest?" If there was one thing about Brenna, she found many things interesting, and thus could easily be distracted from one of them to the other. And she hadn't prowled in the forest for a while. "I guess we could do that. And I won't have to take the time to go put boots on for that one!" Or apparently pants, either, as she blithely trotted off towards the trees just as she was. "How about we poke around some there, and then take a look at those crystals?"

Lily thinks for a minute, and seems like she wants to stay back. "We might want to bring some lights and weapons if we're going to the forest. Something to mark our path is a must, and you'll still need boots. Walking can be a chore, and there's at least some terrain that's messy. Not to mention, you are going to want pants."
