Either he's posing now or something went wrong in his head.

Before a diagnosis came up, I figured that he was just going senile. XD

I mean, that is a rather striking difference. I now can't say that he has always sounded as dumb as he has. <.<

Well he "was" a coke user. Hardcore chemical drugs like that will leave permanent damage.

We also know he's relapsed since office, be it booze, crack or whatever. (points to all the mysterious "accidents" he has had like the "pretzel" incident)

And you know what? Until people truly become liars, they often don't think there is a price to pay for being a liar. Deceipt eats away at a person, no matter how they play it off.

Been there.

Done that.

That's why I said it, no liar can escape their own mind.

He's just self destructing.

Bush nearly joked on a pretzel a few years ago. There was a nice media frenzy about it.

Regardless, if the contrast wasn't so significant to the point it was nearly scary, the video would be amusing.

Bush was watching TV, supposedly choked on a pretzel, his dog supposedly bumped him, and he supposedly just tripped and fell down. Someone else had to wake him up.

Or, you know, it could be an act. Bush got elected on the support of soccer dads and moms on the basis that he was "one of them." By stumbling over words and seeming like he was your next door neighbor he was able to rouse support. There's nothing stupid or cocaine or liquor related about this, only devious but good political sense. Seem like you're the little guy and little guys will vote for you because they can relate. It's how he painted Kerry in the last election, a rich snob out of touch with the rest of the country while he himself was a down home, salf of the earth cowboy. Stumbling over words only increases this image. Quite brilliant in fact.

Don't forget the "values voters." All those people who decided to vote for him not because of actual political history, but because they thought he was a "moral" leader. Bah. :?

I just thought he'd do a better job than the other guy. I'm not sure if that's true NOW, but that's mainly because I never liked the other guys...

Personally, I think the equation would go something along the lines of...

new speech writers + more speeches + less time to prepare for them = less polished sounding.

I don't know about any of you, but I can't read from a script worth crap to begin with. That'd probably be exaggerated even more with more speeches over a smaller period of time.

Well, if not senility, it could just be that, since he doesn't write his speeches, he's less familiar with them. Usually, when you put those things together yourself, you're much more familiar with what you want to say. But another speech writer means having to read how someone else expresses things. Although, when Bush doesn't have a script, I still see him lacking in the speech department, these past few years.

Doesn't really matter. Debates are more or less paint by number kits, where even if they don't know the questions before hand, they know more or less what is going to be asked.

And I could have a script right in front of me, doesn't mean I could make it sound good and wouldn't make mistakes. You see it on television news all the time, people mess up even when they have a teleprompter in front of them.

I think sitting there claiming it's dementia based on the premise that he isn't articulate as he was before is pretty irresponsible, normal aging in general makes people less sharp. Doesn't mean they are incapable of things.

Well, yeah, I agree with you that Presenile Dementia based on a single symptom is pretty stupid. Especially since it's not exactly an exhaustive study. It's still surprising, though. (Even with the equation.)
