well today I had an interview at a job I knew relatively little about and even though they are willing to hire me there is no way I am working there...

Oh, I could have gotten a job with them, too! Heck, they sent me promotional materials; I didn't even apply officially, but they tried to get me to join them. They're shady. It's better to stay away, as tempting as employment is.

Oh christ, I remember these people from 5 years ago.
When I first saw it, I thought "OMG VECTOR! ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR! FREEHAND! FLASH! I bet they work with those programs." I was such a dork (and still am).

Boy, was I dissapointed.

And now... I realize what I shouldn't do. The first two links were vague, though.

Anoy OTHER scams that I should know about before I go to University in '08?

see that's what I was thinking too since I am planning on picking up graphic design and art in advertising when I go back to school so I thought it was like an advertising firm or something that I could start off as a peon filing papers and move my way up to a more lucrative position and get training and stuff... boy was I wrong

Anything involving selling air filters or vaccum cleaners door-to-door, lol.

They're not a scam in the sense they're selling crap products to people; they can afford to make their stuff good quality since they save that much on advertising. But the fact, even though you're independently contracted and making more money than you would a typical retail job, there's still that stomach-churning realization that all multi-level-marketing setups have. :(

It's one thing to work that hard for your own thing, it's another thing to work that hard for someone who already has 10 houses.

Their general setup is also kind of skepitical. Some of them don't have permanent offices. I know the Kirby vacccum salespeople around here change buildings every six months.

Speaking from experience, here.

Hmm. Thanks, dood. I'll make sure to not do that, since I'm an honest person. Too honest, actually. <.<

In an act of "sticking it to the man" today I saw one of the Vector Marketing flyers in our performing arts department at the college. I took it down, tore it up, and put it in the trash.

I feel better. ^_^
