[Mistress Guendolen]

"Oh no you don't, lady!" Brenna didn't tak threats to her life- or the lives of her friends- lightly. She was stopping this right where it started. And so she swung the pick at this strange woman-creature, yelling wildly....

OOC: I'm trailing off here to allow you, the GM to determine if she hits, and if so, what happens then. I don't know the stats of our opponent, after all.

Lily is busy starring at the woman, who was seconds ago charging at her. She didn't realize she'd attack so quickly, it didn't hit her that her life was in danger, really. She thought it was just a game, not so deathly serious.

"Brenna! Holly! We run, now. Brenna, stop! She still has a free hand, and you might cut her lose."

Lily begins backing up. "We don't know what she is, but we have to run, NOW!"

Brenna halted in mid-swing. "She's still got a free hand, with honking big claws on it! She's gonna cut free either way! So I'm gonna get her out of our way before she has the chance to chase us down!"

Lily nods. "Holly, get back to Daniel, tell him what happened, I'll help Brenna!"

Lily goes for the woman with her machete, trying to block her free hand, and keep it occupied.

"Move it, Holly!" That was all Brenna had to say before again swinging the pick, yelling wordlessly....

(OOC: I feel like laughing, but I'd feel bad if I did for the reason I would be laughing for...)

The ill-intentioned woman had a free hand too, and felt that taking care of the immediate threat to her person was more important than severing what bound her one arm. Using her free hand, which now bore nails nearly as long as the other, she leaned forward and lashed out with it, at Brenna, who had placed herself into a prone position, the opposite of what she had intended. You just don't pass up opportunities like that. XD

Fortunately, another vine came out of the night, catching her active arm before she could reach her target. However, she did swing her long nails down until her fingertips were against the base of her palm, and she managed to cut a long gash along one of Brenna's extended arms.

(OOC: I'm going to move right along, so note how she reacts to the injury (including if she dropped the pick ax), just for contingency's sake.)

"Would you listen already!" That same voice exclaimed again, sounding annoyed, and getting the attention of (and thus distracting for a moment) those she was addressing.

The woman had already gone into working her way free, an expression on her face that was a mix of anger and concentration. On the vines, near her hands, black flames appeared, burning away while she began to tug at her vices, waiting for them to weaken and snap. Unfortunately, by the time she sensed something approaching her from above, it was too late. By the time that she looked up, her vision was overcome by a sparkling fist. While she crumpled to the ground, unconscious, her black flames died away and the vines, scorched but intact, returned from whence they came.

Standing beside the fallen woman was another otherwordly-seeming woman, this one with an ambient light around her, bright enough to wash out all of the colors of her body with its own golden hue. She faced the general direction of the three young ladies, her arms crossed and her face with a look of disapproval.

"Won't you ever learn to listen to me?" She chastized, acting familiar with whom she directed her rhetorical question toward. "I swear..."

(OOC: Yes, those last two posts while I was typing mine up. No, I won't edit my last post to act on them. You can probably tell why by seeing what takes place there. Which I tried to avoid happening again by "moving right along." <.<; *Shakes head*)

Brenna cried out when the nail gashed her arm; it jerked, spasmodically, losing her grip on the pick. She clutched the bleeding gash, mind whirling- what to do-
But that was nothing compared to the arrival of, well, an iridescent fist descending from the sky and blasting their would-be opponent away.... With that, she outright hit the ground again. And gaped up at this newly arrived otherworldly woman. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the brilliant light emanating from her; in the meantime, she took off her shirt and ripped off the damaged sleeve, trying to wind the frabric around her gash.... And finally found her voice to say to this newcomer, "You talk as though we've met before, lady."

Lily makes the leap of reasoning first. "It was you who gave us the hints, who warned us that this was not a place for us."

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Then why didn't she just come right out and say so, instead of being all mysterious and all that stuff?" Brenna made a noise as she tightened the fabric she'd wrapped around her gashed arm, then gingerly pulled her shirt back around herself. "Though I guess she thought the glow there'd blind us.... Honestly, this is the day o' weirdness, I'm telling you."

At first hearing someone cry out 'hurry run!' that's exactly what Holly did. She didn't head twards camp though, no, she's still got some adventure left in her. Holly ran in the direction the vines came from.

And she continued on, not seeing the woman who smashed the evil fae or see that Brenna was wounded. Holly comes to find something that Nekkid shall now post XD

Without a lamp, or the light from the new arrival, Stellar was running blind, her eyes not adjusted to the dark enough to see anything since (not too long ago) her eyes were working on lamp light. So, before too long, she ran straight into a tree, which knocked her a bit senseless and took the wind out of her. XD

"You talk as though we've met before, lady."

Said lady blinked, as if she had didn't understand something, but then an expression of enlightenment shone upon her face.

"It was you who gave us the hints, who warned us that this was not a place for us."

She smiled awkwardly, kind of sheepishly, and began to fidget with her hands, which she held in front of herself.

"Actually..." Then she paused, when she caught sight of Brenna's arm. "Oh! Let me have a look at that!"

Holly would have cried out something witty like 'ow!' but the collision took her breath away too quickly. She stood quite wobbly for a moment as she rubbed the impact point on her face. (Just a lump? or do you suppose the bark of the tree could have cut her forehead?)

With a deep, and needed, breath she cursed the tree then remembered that she was running from an evil creepy lady. She turned looking back through the darkness at where she ran from. Holly could only imagine what had happened to Brenna and Lily, but surely, they should be safe since someone told them all to run off.

The throbbing headache from the tree and having had no sleep began to fatigue her; she slumped against the tree bringing a hand to her forehead waiting for her eyes to adjust before anything else.

Lily picks up her lantern. "Um, I'm not sure if Holly went the right way, maybe we should go after her before she meets an ally of Ms. Nails?"

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Sounds like a plan to me." Brenna hefted the pick over her shoulder again. "Can't imagine her having any buddies, but in this case it's better to be safe than sorry."
