"I'm... Sorry too."

The Cassia clone fired her own arrow of energy before being struck by Cassia's in the arm. Though it was narrow, it still was able to sear a nice hole through her flesh. She dropped her weapon and crumpled to the ground in sheer pain.

"Ah.... It hurts...."

The clone's arrow struck Cassia in the leg. She yelled again, this time in pain. She wavered in mid-air, and then, hurting too much to be able to stay aflaot any longer, started to fall towards the ground.... I did what I had to do- but my heart hurts as much as my leg-

Through tear-filled eyes, the copy saw her arrow strike home, causing Cassia to begin her descent down towards the ground below. She couldn't....

"No!" she cried, throwing herself up back into the skies once more. In a matter of seconds, she caught the falling form of Cassia, but her injured arm meant that she could not hold onto her long.

"I have to land.... Ah! There!"

Positioning Cassia in her grasp so that she would not be hurt by the landing, the double dived down towards the city park, landing within the dark shadows of the trees. It was rough, but both were able to make to the ground relatively unharmed.

*Kyte watched the fight and when he saw them start to land he ran onve to the spot next to where they landed and grabed the imposter and healed both of the people's wounds*

Kyte:You have some explaining to do. Why did you take Kate?

".... Why? What would you do if refused to tell you? Kill me?"

The Cassia clone made no attempts to fight back. Though her wounds had healed, her muscles were still extremely tired due to the intenseness of the fight. Besides, she wouldn't have fought back even if she could....

"Do you always see things in black and white?"

Cassia blinked, her head clearing. "Yo... who's carryin' me?..." She blinked again, owlishly, and realized it was... the clone. "Hey, put me down! I- I- and- what'd you do that for, anyway?" she said as her head steadily came back to clarity. "I'd have thought you'd've just let me fall...."

"Because.... You care."

The clone brushed a delicate hand against Cassia's cheek before gently laying her against the trunk of a nearby tree. After she made sure Cassia was comfortable, the double turned to face Kyte.

"I do not doubt that what I've done has distressed you greatly. However, what I'm doing must be done.... For the people of this city. I'm sorry."

This time the stare was sheer amazement. Because... I care?... Her hand went lightly to the side of her face. I don't understand. Why would that be?... And- does that mean that to some degree, you care, too? If you do, then why do you fight like this? Why? If it's for the city, in that case... "Hey, lemme speak up for a minute here," Cassia said, not getting up from her spot. "I said before we started this mess, do you think you're the only one who cares about this city? Yeah, we didn't ask for these powers, but we got 'em. It's a trust passed down to us. And that trust to is to defend the place we live against monsters, aliens, and other large and crazy threats. Sounds to me like we have the same goals. So why the heck are we fighting each other?"

"We fight because.... Because...."

A cloud of doubt formed over the double's mind. He did believe in the reason he was fighting for, but.... Perhaps, there was more to this than she thought. These children were dangerous with the powers they had, but there was now something of a bond she felt with them.... Was it because of the DNA she held now? Or was it a genuine feeling of trust?

".... I can't answer that now. I'm sorry. But...."

She handed Kyte what appeared to be a business card. It had a location disclosed on it.

"Please come to this area later. I'll have Kate meet you there."

This was directly against his orders, but he did not see the need to keep Kate. Besides, they already had her....

Cassia stood up. "Yeah. Me too. After- all this-" her hand waved vaguely- "I think it's only fair. Especially as you already know ours." And... for some reason I- I feel like- could we actually maybe be getting to be friends? After all that's happened? That- doesn't seem as bad an idea as I would have thought when I left.... Not too bad at all, really....

The Cassia double stood there silently for a moment, a bit unsure of herself. Then, a small giggle escaped her lips.

"I guess it couldn't hurt.... My name is Maxwell, or Max, but..."

She looked down at her petite, curvy body.

"I guess, for now.... Mai will do."

A small smile formed on her face.

"Uh. Yeah, it'd be kinda weird calling a girl Max.... Uh- if you dont mind me saying so- is that gonna be- um- permanent?..." If so, that's gonna be really freaky.... I'll be looking at a clone of Mom and possibly me. So weird....
