Well you guys are lucky to be talking to me right now, I just about got killed on my daily walk as a semi truck ran a stop sign at twice the speed limit and just about hit me. I tried to get pics with my phone, but they were too far away... I hope the a$$hole gets caught one day. I cannot tell you how mad I am, but I decided I am going to take my phone with me all the time and whenever I see someone doing something totally illegal I am going to snap their plate number if at all possible and then file police reports for every last person.

I hate it when people do that. I really, really hate it. It has almost happened to me twice that i got run over like that. One time was right by my parent's house where some family father with his two little kids who drove like a 120 km/t in an urban area past a red light just as me and my family was about to cross the street. The other time was in Amsterdam where i was trying to cross a narrow street in one of the older parts of the city when a police car of all things came by with a speed around the same as that of the guy before, without having a siren on or anything of the sort.

oh and adding to that: more news from the battlefront...

Today I was driving and the car somewhat ahead of me stopped, and the car behind it stopped as well then pulled around to block it's path, the two men got out of their cars and started yelling at each other's faces... it looked to be a very bright red macho redneck, and a latin ganstah in absurdly oversized clothes... I went around them quickly...

...then a little while later, some guy in his shiny new mustang felt that going ten above the limit was not enough and passed two cars in a no passing zone then zipped off into the horizon, passing two sheriffs... the sheriffs were too busy chatting with each other to notice...

There was about a 4 year period in the 90's where Montana had no daytime speed limit, but it was only on rural highways and police could still pull you over, as the rule was "reasonable and prudent". It got changed after someone who was pulled over appealed it to the state supreme court, so they set a speed limit afterwards.

I think Texas has the highest now.

Anyways, that really stinks May. Although I'd probably guess it happened so fast that, after the shock of what happened hits, you wouldn't have time to get a phone out and take a picture, at least not one that anyone could tell what happened. But it's a good idea to try anyways.

"autobohn" is indeed a speling error. The correct spelling would be "Autobahn". Remember kids: nouns are written with a capital letter in German.

They wouldn't do well on the Autobahn, for it is the safest highway anywhere because the drivers have to follow strict guidelines when it comes to what lane they are in. These Indianans would either be weaving about like idiots without using turn signals or contentedly sitting at 100(kph, not mph) in the inside lane... and as my Dutch friend once said... if you are driving at 200kph on that road, people will pass you like you were standing still.

My drafting instructor once had been on it too. He described how he was like the only one on the road when a red Ferrari appeared in his mirror on the horizon and dissapeared over the next horizon in like a minute...

pretty much the fast lane there should only be taken up if you drive a supercar...
