The difference is that no one else would be walking around like a viking outside of Halloween. ;p

Well, I know what I'm doing wrong. My diet is poor, I don't get exercise, etc. etc. so I'm trying to rectify it. And I am slowly but surely.

Unless there's some secondary condition causing the problem you can too Guen!

If *I* can do it, I know anyone can.

Unless it genuinely doesn't bother you, then be happy being happy :D

See, my problem is that I am trying. I try to eat healthy (even though I know I'm not perfect), I take Tae Kwon Do, play DDR regularly, etc. But... it doesn't seem to be working. I've made some impact, but it's such slow going as to be negligible. Frustrating, very. As I'm really dissatisfied as I am right now. I feel like a useless, ugly lump, to be honest. It kinda kills motivation.... I have wondered if I have a thyroid problem- that can cause problems in this area- but it's never been tested, so I don't know for sure.

Awwww! *Bear-Hugs Guen*

You'll get there!

A few things you can do:

Get a medical workup to test for things like thyroid problems.

Go see a dietician to plan with.

Stick with it! every little bit helps!

Thanks for the support. And diet plans are hard to stick to when you buy for yourself. They tend to be expensive.... :? Not sure if I could budget for that, to be honest. But I'll keep trying.

From what I've read in science, it's mostly a genetic thing. There is a certain point in people where the metabolic rate is balanced, if your weight goes above that your metabolism will speed up making it easy to lose weight, though if you go below it the metabolism slows down, thinking that you are losing too much, making it harder to lose weight. This is different in every person.

I have no way to prove that the book I was reading wasn't lying the whole way through, so take it as it is ^^;.

I know I'm talking about what could easily be a touchy subject, so if I say something wrong just say so and I'll stop ^^;

Depends on the diet plan.

I'm sure that if you tell him/her your budget they can work with you.

Getting rid of fat can be troublesome. If something doesn't work for you that works for at least a decent number of other people, then taking more drastic measures is usually the only way to go unless you're satisfied with your body... Which isn't the case if you're trying to diet in the first place. Finding the right diet... Man, it can demand that you turn your life upside down, to abandon long-used habits. That's tough; not only on your mind and getting a new day to day tempo, but your body needs time to adapt as best as it can as well. Especially if you have to keep at it to maintain what you had accomplished.

One diet that I could recommend to a desperate person, to be used until you reach your goal (and then you can taper back into a somewhat normal diet), is one that your taste buds won't like at all. Not because of the type of food, but because of how little you'll actually eat along with the usual kinds of food that you should avoid on a diet. It involves taking pills to get your daily vitamins and minerals and eating small amounts of food that are closer to being non-soluble than soluble or very soluble (that way what little you eat won't leave you feeling hungry too soon). At the same time you'd pump up some muscle to increase the energy that you burn. It's certainly not one that I'd ever do myself, though. ^_^; I'm probably fortunate enough to just need some exercise... Although I'll probably never get around to it. <.<;

The thyroid check isn't too expensive to arrange. I think its only about 30 bucks, judging from around here, for the blood sample collection and maybe about twice that much for the actual testing.

I've had one of those tests just about every year of my life at the insistance of my doctors and every time it has come back with no problems. Its not that bad a workup to get though, they just stick ya in the arm and let you bleed into one of those little vials. Heals over in about ten minutes at most.
