Right, so... I'm guessing that shutting my computer down with the power button on the tower had been the cause, but my Firefox got messed up and I lost all of my bookmarks. I decided to get the most update version of Firefox but my bookmarks still haven't returned even though the history was still there for me to nab (thank goodness). Now I'm trying to manually install my bookmarks from the latest backup file but everywhere I've put it, to replace another bookmarks file (and making sure that the name of the file is the same), I've gotten nothing. They show up in "History", but not "Bookmarks." Can anyone help me figure this out? I prefer the convenience of using the bookmarks thing over having to go to an HTML file to click on a link.

Hit your computer with the hardest hammer you have. REALLY HARD. Always works for me.

((What, you that a n00b like me had useful advice? ^__^; I'm a n00b.))

EDIT: ...actually, check your Temporary files...I'm not too sure, but shouldn't there be at least a folder somewhere with backed up bookmarks?

Ok, try this path.

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites"

If that doesn't work, I THINK I've figured it out--

Follow this path:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles"

((Simply put. Copy-paste time.))

Yeah, I've already nabbed a backup file, but copying and pasting it somewhere doesn't change anything. I replaced two different places where I found a bookmarks file with the backup, but no change. I just don't get it... And if there's another place with a bookmark file, I have no idea where to look for it. I mean, other than the history backup, I found two other places with bookmark files that seemed like they'd work for the Bookmark on the browser (and thus why I replaced them with the backup)... If there are more than those two, I wouldn't know; computers aren't my forte.

Chances are, you're going to have to do things the hard way after all. The only thing I can suggest now is to do what you're already probably doing: opening bookmark html links, clicking them, and re-saving. T___T Sorry this happened to you.

Resaving... All of my bookmarks... Last time I had only lost about a hundred links. But this time I lost them all, so that'd mean that I'd have to go through and bookmark almost a thousand things. ^_^;;;;;;;;

Happiness! After a bit of fiddling, I came across an option to import a file into the bookmarks thingy... And now I have all of my bookmarks back! Yay! :D

I had a similar problem not too long ago.

The bookmark backup file from the the Application Data folder works, but...

... not if you try and move it/rename it while Firefox is open. Close firefox, replace bookmarks.html with the backup file (properly renamed, of course,) and restart it.

Viola.
*POOF* Problem Solved.

As I said before, Firefox automatically backs up the bookmarks at regular intervals.

Which is good, or else there'd be no hope at all.
