I'm a hermit. I spend more time alone and finding spiritual means of making sense of the reality I find myself in. I have no idea if that really applies to any of the poll options. ;/

There's a subtle difference. Nerd is the one focused mainly on the smarts; the guy who wins the science fair and so forth. Geek, however, can be applied to not just the brain works, but to devotion to fandoms and so forth. Gaming geek, anime geek, what have you. It's a more flexible term. At least in my interpertation of things.

The nerd variety, you are. They are usually interested in knowledge in general, or a particular field of knowledge. Geeks tend to have strong interests in hobbies and ideas and such, and acquiring knowledge in those areas. I wouldn't call anyone a geek who just enjoys something a lot; they have other words for that.

Now, if you were a geek, you might have said something along the lines of those ten experience points earning you a new skill set that helps to discern a nerd from a geek. ;p
