..."welcome back, Cold Tom" said Govanni.
At that moment a grunt ran into the office.
"Sir," he said saluting, "The hybrids have taken back the vaporeon girl that was captured by the group we have been watching, However all contact with the city has been lost."
Erin and Aiko thought Tina, a pang of sadness hitting her.
"I apologise," said Geovanni, "But I must ask you to leave now, Tom...sorry...Tina. I have private matters to attend to. My assistant who greeted you will rejoin you at the door."
Tina bowed and left the room, reactivating her holo-watch. Outside the door she was rejoined by the woman who had shown her in.
"So," she said, "You are one of the renouned hybrids."
"You know of us?" asked Tina
"It is my job to know," the woman replied simply
"I was told I would nead to be read." said Tina
"In that case empty your mind and I shall begin." the woman said as she began to concentrate, "please don't fight it"
Tina cleared her mind as she felt the woman trying to probe into her thoughts. After a second the reader opened her eyes.
"I told you to clear your mind and not to fight it." she said.
"I'm not," replied Tina, "My mind will be harder to penetrate. I am a ghost."
"I understand, I will try a more forcefull approach than I usually do." said the reader, "This may be a bit uncomfortable."
The woman had been right, it felt as though someone was opening Tina's mind with a crowbar, however she endured it. By the end of the reading the woman looked exausted.
"Thank you for your co-operation" she gasped finally.
"Are you alright?" asked Tina
"Yeah, I'm fine" the woman said tiredly, "That was just a lot harder than I had expected, I had to go straight to the information I needed and I only just stayed in long enough to do that."
"I'm sorry" apologised Tina.
"Don't worry about it," said the reader, "It can't be helped. If you go down to the second basement level then you will be re-issued with a uniform and keycard and will be able to access training, in your case both the pokemon and human courses."
"Thank you." said Tina heading towards a lift.
"Don't mention it" said the tired reader.
The lift dropped Tina and absol off at the second basement level (the reader used her card to allow them to use the lift) where they saw a small booth with a long row of changing rooms behind it. Standing at the booth was a fairly young man wearing a blue version of the team rocket uniform. The man watched Tina as she walked out of the lift.
"Your Tina right?" asked the man
"Yes" she replied communication here is as good as always
"You'll be wanting your uniform and ID then wont you?" the man replied.
"Thats why I'm here." said Tina, "Which uniform will I be recieving?"
"I have the perfect thing for you." the man said pulling a neatly folded uniform out from somewhere, "You will be having the Ghost Patrol uniform."
"Isn't the ghost patrol only compsed of pokemon?" asked Tina, "Why would they have a uniform?"
"The tailors were bored." repiled the man with a shrug, "Don't look too much into it..."
"Ok..." said Tina, "Hand it over then."
"Here you go" the man said handing the uniform over to Tina. "Feel free to use the changing rooms, although if you would prefer not to use a changing room thats fine with me."
Tina just shook her head and went into one of the changing rooms. After a while she stepped out in a dark, form-fitting almost black team rocket uniform, the rocket logo a deeper shade of purple than normal in this case.
"Looks good" said the man, "You should find that that stuff will help you to focus your power."
"How" asked Tina
"Well its made with a material that is highly sensitive to spectral activity, by testing it with the Ghost Patrol we found that it will allow you to spectrally affect other objects or beings with greater ease." the man explained, "This will help you pull them through walls, enter dreams, and even drag them to the spirit realm."
"I can do that?" asked Tina
"Well that depends on what kind of hybrid you are." the man said, "as far as I understand it, you share the ablilities of you pokemon counterpart."
"I'm a gengar type." said Tina
"Hmm, a gengar..." the man said, thinking for a second, "yep you should be able to do that, although it won't let you drag living things into people's shadows with you, it will help you absorb life-energy faster and it also provides some decent protection from non-physical attacks."
"Drag people into shadows?" asked Tina, confused.
"Everything about your powers will be covered in your training," the man said, "Oh that reminds me, your training area is down another two floors. Here," he held out a card, "Here's your new keycard, under Geovanni's orders you have level 9 access to all areas."
"Thank you." said Tina taking the card.
"No problem" replied the man with a wave.
Tina walked to the lift and went down another two floors. When the doors opened she found herself in a dimly lit room. As she walked in she felt a group of ghost pokemon close in on her.
"So she is the hybrid..." a pokemon's hollow voice said. It's owner was a dusklops.
"She has a nice smell to her" another said, this time it was a haunter. It looked at her licking its lips
"Training her may be interesting" said a third voice, a banette.
"So you are the ones who will be training me." said Tina, disableing her holo-watch.
"Hmm, a gengar..." said the haunter
"This 'will' be fun" said the banette
"Do you wish to begin?" asked the dusklops
"Yes, I do." said Tina firmly.
"Her resolve is strong, I recognise this will." said the dusklops.
"She almost smells like the ice theif." said the banette
"When day comes you can go to the dark training area if you so wish," the haunter said to absol, "You will be training with us" it said to Tina.
The training lasted for several hours until the morning Tina's trainer let her rest for the day. The next evening she was woken up and called back to the training area for another session, just as absol went to sleep for the night. The training went on all night until Tina was sent a message. The message told her that she and absol had an assignment and would be needed at the train station at 4:15pm, giving her just enough time to rest and prepare. At 4:15pm Tina and absol arrived at the station to find a couple of high level squadrens each specialising in a different element; one for fire, water, lightning and flying each. As the bourded the train they were breifed on the mission. They were to restore contact with Viridian City and prevent the hybrids from gaining too much control, though any means nessicery.
