Matt reels from the pain of the kick. That, coupled with the earlier toss, left him in quite a bit of pain. He pulled himself slowly up to a kneeling position. This guys insane, we need to get the cops or something. He thinks to himself.

The idea behind this is to be a complete retelling of Dante Alighieri's 'Divine Comedy'. The first section of which is titled 'The Inferno'.
The characters must be realistic, as in they have everyday problems, quirks, flaws, annoying tendancies, pashions, and even skeletons in their closets that are better off that NOBODY knows about, that even when discovered, would not make for a dramatic plot twist, but instead make the person even lower in the eyes of others. Like I said, normal people. Dante, for example, decided to write of a man's journey through the afterlife before his time to die, and decided to use himself as the main character. He tells of himself by what punishments for which he showed sympathy for the damned, as well as showed his malicious side by writting people he knew, in real life, into the story. Only to get torn apart by the punishments he concieved for them in the plot, and have his character show pleasure from their fate. Dante also had an inflated ego, by writting this epic poem, he practically pissed on the memory of other great authors before him, by actually inserting them into his story, and playing with them as HIS characters. Not to mention that he placed them in Hell, in the plot. Dante, was actually sort of a prick...I went off on a tangent, didn't I?...Crud...I need to stop that...

Anyways, no, you have to make up your own person. Nothing special about them, aside from a quirk or possible talent/minor trade art. no Matrix kungfoo, or super powers. If you know martial arts, then a normal person would never have used them in an actual fight, and no matter how skilled, will still be very clumsy, seeing as how they have never had to apply the moves against someone who wasn't pulling hits and was actually out to kill them... Keep it simple. ]

OOC: Okay, I take it the characters have some sort of journey to take through Hell, purgatory, and then Heaven, and they get to see the 7 levels of hell, where the damned are punished based on the 7 deadly sins.

OOC: Actually, Hell has 9 layers, and then several sublayers and divisions to account for all types of immoral actions. Purgatory is divided into seven levels, for the seven sins. But this adventure won't go through the last two books of the Comedies (The classic definition of comedy means both the modern definition as well as tradgety. Just thought I should mention that, so no one gets the idea that the story was comedic.) That would take too long, and not be as interesting game wise.]

Ian reached where the man had once been and where Matt was now lying on the floor. Ian helped him up.

"Are you OK?" he asked the looked up at the big guy who was closing in on Anna, "What the hell is going on here?"

The man drew closer and closer to Anna as Ian found himself unable to move, his eyes locked on the brutal looking knife the man had in his hand.

"I'm fine..." Matt says, catching his breath. "We've gotta help her." he adds.

Ian, as you help up Matt, you hear the clicking noise of a gun, a few feet to your right. The woman that was with Leon now has a gun pointed at you. "Don't move..."

Leon is now VERY close to you Anne, and is reaching for you.

Anna, by now having been cornered, looked angrily at Leon, pulling her taser out of her coat pocket and turning it on. She thrusts it at the thug, since he's close to her now.

The crazy woman turns her head when she hears Leon scream i pain from the tazer, and fall over paralyzed.
"LEO!"
She stands there breathing heavily in shock for a second, but soon turns back to Ian. He eyes deep in insanity as she practicly foams at the mouth.

Then shoots him in the right leg.

Ian heard the gunshot, felt the bullet rip through his leg and as he turned around he saw the woman behind him, her face a twisted mass of madness and cruelty. Oddly enough he felt no pain, or at least not for a few seconds. Then the pain erupted at him and he collapsed on the floor, clutching his leg.

Matt looks quickly between the guy who had just helped him and the woman who had just shot him. Deciding that trying to use his knife or do anything else while the woman had the gun was probably a bad idea, he ran to her as quickly as he could and took as good a hold as he could on the gun, trying to pull it away with all his strength. At the very least he should be able to point the gun away from people.
