Artemis and Company: They're Baaaaaaack!

Postby Comartemis » Fri Sep 28, 2007 12:51 pm

Name: Tomoe Artemis
Alias: Longinus, A-sama, “That Meddling Kid”
Class: Chaos Diety
Species: Human (???)
Gender: Male
Age: Immortal and lovin’ it!
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 202 lbs
Skin: Pale
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Quote: “People don’t need fate to make their choices for them; that’s what parents are for.”
Theme Song: “Rock Lee’s Theme”, Toshiro Masuda

Character Description:
The appearance of Artemis’ physical form always matches whichever avatar I happen to be using at the time.

Character History:
Born in the heart of the multiverse, Artemis spent most of his mortal existence making a severe nuisance of himself where the Forces of Evil were concerned. About 300 years after his escape from Universe Zero, circumstances forced Artemis and his eternal partner, Tomoe Hotaru, into battle with the Lord of Nightmares. The battle ended when Artemis landed a fatal blow, destroying L-sama’s physical form and absorbing a small portion of her power. Artemis used this power in conjunction with his dreamscape to make himself a chaos deity, and to resurrect a fatally wounded Hotaru and grant her the same status.

Since then, Artemis and Hotaru have spent most of their time in a pocket dimension outside of time and space, watching events in the multiverse and playing the roles of the ultimate meddlers, screwing with the plans of the Inidrasil and destroying the concept of fate one destiny at a time.

Character Personality:
Being immortal has done wonders for Artemis’ sense of humor; he rarely takes anything completely seriously, and on those occasions where he is truly mad about something he is far more likely to respond with slapstick violence than he once was. Pretty much the only thing that can make him get serious is the concept of fate or destiny, which he vehemently opposes and undermines every chance he gets. Naturally this puts him at odds with entities like the Inidrasil.

Character Powers:
As a supremely powerful chaos diety embodying the creative aspect of chaos, Artemis can grant himself any power or skill set he desires. It is utterly impossible to destroy him or even really harm him in his natural form, but his natural form exists outside the multiverse and even beyond chaos, so it’s really kind of a moot point.

His status as a chaos diety, however, makes it impossible for him to manifest himself in the multiverse at large without destroying whichever universe he visits. Instead, Artemis seals most of his power and assumes a physical form whenever he visits. This form is quite vulnerable to damage (assuming one can penetrate Artemis’ defenses).

Artemis’ most-used power is his ability to reincarnate pieces of himself and merge those pieces with other souls in the process of reincarnation, essentially creating any number of avatars for himself. Any who come into contact with these avatars lose any fate or destiny that has been planned out for them, enabling them to make their own decisions without interference. Thus far, his only existing avatars are Lucas Akume (an aspiring overlord), Hinata Redcourt (a catgirl with a violent streak), and Rena Seijuro (a young swordswoman).

Artemis’ avatars are marked by a silver rune on the backs of their right hands and gain several powers to help ensure their survival. The most common power granted to Artemis’ avatars is the ability to tap into Artemis’ power, granting them a tiny portion of Artemis’ infinitely huge mana reserves. Several attacks unique to Artemis are also possible for his avatars; for one, instinctive knowledge of all attacks Artemis ever used with his keyblade, including Ars Arcanum, Strike Raid, and Ragnarok. More importantly, however, the avatar gains the ability to use an attack Hotaru invented and Artemis used against L-sama; Chaos Flare, an attack that utilizes the power of the Galaxy Cauldrons (of Sailor Moon manga canon) to create an attack with no limits to its' destructive power.

Secondly, should the avatar become aware of his connection to Artemis and accept his role as a destroyer of destiny and a smiter of all things evil, Artemis will always grant that avatar an extremely powerful weapon or artifact to aid them in their journeys.

Lastly, if one of Artemis’ avatars is in the same universe as one of Hotaru’s avatars, they will inevitably become drawn to one another, providing each other with an invaluable ally and probably drawing others into their cause as well. This is not due to any particular guidance on Artemis and Hotaru’s parts; it just comes with the territory of being the avatars of two soulmates.

Minions:
None.

Character Inventory:
None. As a diety with powers relating to creation, Artemis doesn’t need an inventory when he can simply will objects into existence.

Name: Tomoe Hotaru
Alias: Sailor Saturn, Sailor Chaos, “That Other Meddling Kid”
Class: Chaos Diety
Species: Human (???)
Gender: Female
Age: Immortal
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 126 lbs
Skin: Pale
Hair: Indigo
Eyes: Purple
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Quote: “Hmm? Did you say something?”
Theme Song: “Good Enough”, Evanescence

Character Description:
On those rare occasions Hotaru manifests a physical form, she always appears in her standard Sailor fuku. Her form is enveloped by a perpetual golden aura, which Hotaru hasn’t figured out how to get rid of yet.

Character History:
Hotaru has been Artemis’ partner since the two met completely by chance shortly after Hotaru’s battle with Pharaoh 90. Through many adventures and battles beyond count, the two became friends, lovers, and soulmates, swearing to watch each others’ backs for all eternity, even when Hotaru awakened as Sailor Chaos and nearly destroyed the universe on several occasions.

That promise was put to the test when Artemis and Hotaru were pitted against the Lord of Nightmares about 300 years after they first met. Hotaru’s own powers of chaos manipulation were no match for L-sama’s powers, and she fell in battle while protecting Artemis. Her death, however, provided Artemis with the uncontrollable desire to crush L-sama beneath his heel, and the power to make that desire reality. Artemis destroyed L-sama’s physical form, drained her power through his keyblade, and transcended mortality, becoming a chaos deity of creation and enabling him to restore Hotaru to life as a chaos deity of destruction.

Since then, Artemis and Hotaru spend most of their time in a pocket dimension outside of time and space, watching events in the multiverse and playing the roles of the ultimate meddlers, screwing with the plans of the Inidrasil and destroying the concept of fate one destiny at a time.

Character Personality:
Hotaru is as soft-spoken as she’s always been; in other words, she’s loud and outspoken, highly assertive, and otherwise just not like her canon self. Her old habits as a magical girl haven’t faded in the slightest, and she loves to make life miserable for villains and evil-doers by making sure Murphy’s Law always bites them in the ass when they need it the least.

Character Powers:
Hotaru has incredible power as a chaos deity, but her powers are somewhat more limited than Artemis’ simply because she cannot grant herself any skill set she desires. Hotaru has ungodly magical power, easily enough to erase multiple universes at a time, and can master spells simply by watching others cast them.

Like Artemis, Hotaru is a chaos deity, and her essence resides outside of time and space. As such she cannot be killed or truly harmed, though any physical form she may take is vulnerable to damage.

Also like Artemis, Hotaru is able to create avatars by reincarnating pieces of herself. These avatars are marked by dark purple runes on the backs of their left hands, and gain several abilities to enhance their lifespans.

Firstly, they are able to use death magic to great effect, and the more powerful avatars can tap directly into Hotaru’s power and utilize her own unique brand of chaos magic, which is purely destructive in its’ effects.

Second, those who become aware of their connection to Hotaru and accept their roles as enemies of all things evil and destroyers of destiny are always granted an extremely powerful weapon or artifact. This weapon is always capable of channeling death and chaos magic without destroying itself, and through it, one of Hotaru’s own unique attacks may be utilized; Nightmare Syndrome.

Lastly, whenever one of Hotaru’s avatars occupies the same universe as one of Artemis’ avatars, the two inevitably become drawn to each other.

Minions:
The Murphy's Law Gremlin
A summoned creature Hotaru always keeps with her. The MLG is perpetually invisible and completely undetectable by any and all means. His only purpose is to screw up the plans of Hotaru's enemies by ensuring that anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

Character Inventory:
--Silence Glaive: Hotaru’s weapon of choice can easily channel raw chaos and destruction mana without destroying itself.

--Necromancy for Dummies: A book Hotaru always starts reading when others try to fight her. Thanks to an ability gained from one of Himitsu’s crystals, she fights just as skillfully while reading this book as she does without it.

--Leviathan: Hotaru’s old armed device, not used since her days with the Senshi. Ordinarily it takes the form of a brooch, but when its' power is invoked it becomes a pair of magically-enhanced gauntlets and greaves that greatly boost Hotaru's strength and speed (not that she needs it...). She may occasionally grant this weapon to one of her avatars.

Shana
A catgirl who hails from the nation of Morrowind on the planet Nirn, Shana's homeworld was destroyed by a renegade Sailor Galaxia variant during Galaxia's battle with Artemis and Sailor Saturn. Shana, formerly a well-known adventurer around Cyrodiil, was rescued from the jaws of death by Saturn's healing magic and was taken under Artemis' wing as his adoptive daughter.

Shana is best described as mischevious but well-meaning. She is well-versed in magic and swordsmanship, but her true calling is as a marksman; she is just as proficient with a bow and arrow as she is with a variety of firearms, but she prefers her twin DG-X pistols, heavily-enchanted replicas of Artemis' guns, whose clips have been enspelled to regenerate spent ammunition, along with the 'railgun' and 'enspelled rounds' enchantments granted to Artemis' guns.

Besides the standard rounds, Shana also keeps several clips of high-caliber shells that allow her to use magic attacks she otherwise wouldn't be capable of using, such as her signature special attack, Divine Buster. All but the most powerful of these shells regenerate their charges quickly enough that Shana doesn't need to worry about running out of ammo, but the biggest and baddest of her spells, like Starlight Breaker, Hræsvelgr, and Dragon Slave need several minutes to charge between attacks (about ten posts or so), and they just plain can't be used outside Muffinville (except in roleplays where that sort of power is expected from the characters).

Besides her pistols, Shana also wears a pair of jet boots she nicked from the armory of Zenon's Curse that augment her speed and jumping height significantly, as well as allowing her to hover in place for a short while.

Shana's race, the Ainmhi, are naturally rather short in stature and are cursed with high-pitched voices; these traits make it easy for others to mistake them for children; naturally, being treated like a kid is Shana's number one pet peeve.

Update 3: This is what I get for being lazy about detailing my characters' capabilities in the initial post. Shana's combat abilities have been elaborated on somewhat.

Wow, and you actually thought to complain about my character having high stats while Artemis can assume any form, cast any spell, has massive weapon skill, and can't die from being completely destroyed, on top of other things? And that's just his normal form. And Hotaru being able to violate the laws of physics at will? That means that you can do anything you want without any explanation of how.

Hotaru: Your attack doesn't affect me!
Opponent: Why not?
Hotaru: I decided to ignore the laws of physics, sucks to be joo!
